Hi - posting a new thread on advice (thanks SWM!) Has anybody else ever had a GP referral for further help/investgations for recurrent thrush? I've had it for 20 yrs now, pretty much every month and have tried dietary intervention myself but with only short term success. Any and all advice welcomed. P.S. I have tried tea tree, sugar reduction, supplements, yoghurt, EVERY anti fungal medication going both medical and homeopathic and pretty much anything else you can think of! TIA

ive suffered for about a year now only started once i really started anything sexual. the one thing that did work for me was 100mg of flucozanole every week this cleared it up brilliantly but then couldnt get a repeat prescription so stopped, and was fine, but one session of (sorry if tmi) but lets just say "good" sex, i would get it about 2 days later. im coming to the end of my tether also. i also went to a herbal shop and my mum spoke to the women about it, she was also suffering and prescribed some vitamins acidiphilus or something, which also worked, but ran out and got another brand and this also didnt work. its just never ending, and very uncomfortable, also kills your sex life. i would reccomment trying the tablets each week, but a bit of a pain when you have to come off them. also lubrcate when having sex, and dont use perfume & the rest of it, but its just so annoying

Oh I feel your pain. My thrush comes back every damn month and seems to last about 3 weeks. I am unbelievably miserable about it and have the sex drive of a rock. I'm only 32 and feel about 80. I have had limited success with several things but here is what has worked:
Acidophillus tablets: eat them like sweeties;
Cut out sugar and alcohol;
Aromatherapy: KY jelly with lavendar oil in it really relieves the itch.

It definitely seems to need a multi-pronged approach, which makes it so hard to deal with when you're raising babies too. My next plan of action is treating hubby too and ditching the condoms as I wonder if I'm not latex intolerant too.

go to this website www.recurrentthrush.com

anti-fungals do not work. if you have a serious problem then you need to be clearing more that just one area of yeast. They have a list of things you could be taking to clear your yeast from your system, not just your vagina. As long as its in your system, it will keep coming back! Trust me, I learned this the hard, slow way. I finally have my sex life back- yee haw!

Hello i know this was posted a while ago but i was hoping one of you could help me. I've had constant thrush for over 5 months and after endless pessaries and doctor visits i decided to consult a nutrition. She confirmed what i thought and that the yeast had invaded my colon and urinary tract. I have tried manty courses of antifungals but nothing seems to work, ive also stuck to a sugar and yeast free diet with short term improvement. I'm desperate to get rid of this it's ruining my life, if any of you got over this please tell me how!!

Yes, I've cured myself of recurrent thrush by using lavender oil neat up my fanjo and then douching it up further with water: I suck it up with my stomach and pelvic floor muscles in the bath, or standing in the shower. It's a bit disgusting when all the solid stuff starts coming out, but after three days there is no more thrush. easy peasy.

I had 9 months of antibiotics and after that a year of OMG gobbbity cottage cheese thrush - just blobs of the stuff and such rawness and pain until I read that lavender oil is an antifungal.

Lavender oil neat and water douching afterwards cleared it up in three days. Just use about 10 drops of [[http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/pages/product_detail.asp?pid=279&prodid=591&cid=296&sid=0 lavender aromatherapy oil from holland and barrett] on your fingers, around the area and up a bit, and then suck the water up with your muscles.

If you have candida in your mouth and gut you will need to do a candida elimination diet: no sugar, white refined carbs, and fruit. Just low starch veges, protein and wholegrain carbs. You might find yeast raiders from Holland and barrett is good too. I have taken these in the past and they are great for getting your low sugar/white carb diet tolerable, as they contain chromium.

I second getting your blood sugar checked.

Good luck!

Lavender oil neat does give a, eh, tingle right enough shitmagnet, but if you quickly hop into the bath, or apply water in the shower, it's totally fine, and all thrush is gone in three days of doing this, just once a day. It's not bad for a little bit of initial discomfort. If you can bear it put a little bit on neat after the shower as well, and leave it there.. not everyones' cuppa, but for the initial days it's better than the thrush. I always found those thrush creams and pessaries were very tingly too - for me, canesten was very ouchy when applying -like a burning sensation..

It's worth a shot anyway, it totally cleared up my recurrent horrible horrible life limiting thrush. I am now thrush free totally Grin and it cost me a slight tingle for three mornings and a tenner. Not bad really.

If anyone is unsure of how to suck up water into their fanjo, the yoga position Yddiyana bandha is the pelvic hold you're looking for. You just curl over your self and drop your head, breathe out, hold the breath out, (empty the lungs and don't breathe in) and pull up your pelvic floor, and then drop your pelvic floor fast, and pull up again, and take air in through your nose. Here's a video of it on .

You'll need to use the shower head, and fill your cupped hand to collect the water to have a reservoir of water at your fanjo, or just do it lying down in the bath - TOP TIP: do this just before you're ready to get out (if you think there's going to be a lot of the yeast colony coming out). Not very nice to have a bath with all the, eh, detritus floating around!!! A little bit yuckky. Blush

Have just found this thread and wanted to ask if anyone has taken/tried Alcazen?? I have been suffering from recurrent thrush for a few years now :and been on a weekly dose of fluconzale for the last year. This more or less controls it but as soon as I come off it, or miss a dose, the thrush immediately returns. I came across Alcazen on the internet whilst looking for possible alternative solutions - but can't seem to find any independent reviews which makes me think it is rather dodgy! So would be great to know if anyone has tried it. Have noted down previous suggestions: low carb/sugar diet; natural yoghurt; lavender oil; iron underwear; acidophillus tablets; yeast raiders. Am thinking of dashing out of the office now to buy the whole lot in an attempt to crush the life out of this thing once and for all!! Absolutely any advice/suggestions would be very gratefully received.

Hi, I have suffered from reccurent thrush since I was a teenager, 20 years or so. I have been put on on-going treatments many times. I have also been diagnosed as having Lichen Sclerosis, it is worth checking whether you have this because the symptoms are simelar. Both are conditions that in some women, never go away, it is just just a case of managing the symptoms and keeping on top of it. Sadly, sex does not happen often, I am lucky to have an understanding husband.

pinkyp · 03/06/2012 19:55

I always get it about 2 weeks before my period and then it goes for about a week, it's awful. Nothing works, all gp could suggest was what's already been mentioned. I feel your pain

SiSiTD · 05/06/2012 22:05

Can I jump on the bandwagon.

I've had the dreaded T since I was 14. Nothing works. I've been on the highest and longest doses of anti-fungals any professional will prescribe, I've tried herbal pills, yoghurt, dietary things. It will occasionally clear up only to return a few weeks later.

Frogslegs11 · 11/02/2013 22:26

Just seen these posts!
I've been suffering with recurrent thrush for about a year now, it seems to crop up every month, about 4 days before up my period and clears up a couple of days after it. Any one else suffer at this time of the month?
The creams just make it worse, and its driving me mad!
I am convinced that it was my pill (dionette) and I am currently nearing the end of my last pack...I have been to the docs and asked to change pill to see if symptoms improve.
Any suggestions as to what else I can do?

kittykat818 · 12/07/2022 12:28

@Frogslegs11 I have exactly this - did it ever stop?
