Hello!
Very embarrassing, but to cut to the chase, the problem is that I don't think I have done enough work on the old pelvic flooe muscles (or any infact!) since the birth of my second. Now (serves me right) I seem to have a teeny bit of trouble with leakage. I'm now panicing I'll never be able to sort it out.........is it too late to do anything to help, I can't go on like this at my age. TIA

Not too late - start those pelvic floor exercises (IMHO - non medical)

TheBlonde · 11/09/2008 20:21

Go see your GP, ask for a specialist physio referral. They can make sure you are doing the PFE correctly (I wasn't )

Thanks for your replies - sorry didn't know where to post this one!

It is so easy to forget about them

Apparently sex is also good for the pelvic floor

nic06 · 11/09/2008 20:30

Yep, so wish I could turn the clock back! Please reassure me I can make this improve

never too late, my mums just sorted hers! Just had to do the boring pelvic floor excercises

Anifrangapani · 11/09/2008 20:36

If you find mine in your search send it back to me

Jbck · 11/09/2008 20:37

How long since you had the baby? DD2 has just hit 10 months & I finally made myself go to the GP as I felt things weren't improving. I find if I sneeze suddenly I can leak a little or if I'm miles from a loo or don't know where one is but start to need I panic. I'm now waiting on an appt for the specialist clinic but I've been much more vigilant since going to see her & have noticed a bit more improvment. I even stopped a wee mid-flow this evening & I never thought that'd happen again.

Admittedly it was not much more than a trickle but I still did it so that's better than I was.

You can do it!

pelvic toner

JiminyCricket · 11/09/2008 20:42

pelvic toner bit scary looking but worked - no leaking anymore

BibiThree · 11/09/2008 20:45

where would one purchase a pelvic toner...?

nic06 · 11/09/2008 20:56

I'd be interested in buying one too if it works..where do you get them from?
If I tell you in a very quiet voice that mine is now 3yrs old it might send a lesson to those who haven't left it too late!

I know the physiotherapy clinic where I had DD2 lend you one for a period of time to get you doing the exercises properly.

Think if it helped a lot it'd be worthwhile buying one.

Nic I have a friend who waited till she was pg with no 2 to do anything & has a five year gap so you're not the worst

I'm going to google [scared face]

girlsnextdoor · 12/09/2008 17:23

even 80 yr olds can make things better- so don't give up!

Best to see a physio who can check you are doing it right- you should be doing 50 squeezes a day for 3 months or longer to see good progress.

nic06 · 12/09/2008 18:26

50 a day - oh my god I'd better get onto it!!

I've got a pelvic floor question - when you're pg does your pelvic floor automatically weaken a bit?

I bought a gyneflex more or less the week I found out I was pg and have been doing my kegels pretty regularly (although not religiously every day).

But at 15 weeks I'm finding that an unexpected sneeze will still cause me to leak a little. Is that just because everything moves around to accommodate the baby?

I've also noticed it feels more difficult to give them a good squeeze than earlier in my pregnancy.

Is this usual or have I been doing them wrong?

JESSINBOOTS · 12/03/2009 19:02

this is REALLY common and yes, you CAN correct it, no matter how long you left it. Its just another muscle isn't it?
