Whiplash ?

As some of you may have read, I had a fairly minor (but still scary) car accident this morning. Accident was not my fault and I have got all the relevant info I need to chase up the insurance to recoup the repair costs.

I felt physically ok after the accident, apart from being v shaky and tearful. Although I have now started with a dullish ache and stiffness in my neck and shoulders/upper back. My right wrist is also a bit twingey. I don't think any major damage has been done, but do you think my neck stuff could be whiplash ? Or does that come on immediately ? Accident was at around 10.30am.

All help appreciated

Oh NdP hope you are both okay. hugs

Went to a&e. DD seen first, as you would expect. They gave her a pretty good checkover and declared her fine. Apparently babies and small children don't get soft tissue damage as easily as adults as they are much more flexible.

I've got whiplash and have been given exercises to do and also I've been told to use high dose ibruprofen.

Glad to hear DD is ok NomDePlume (so glad you've gone back to the that by the way, brilliant name ).

Hope you are going to do as you are told on the ibruprofen - it really does help. Whiplash is horrible, you have my sympathy.

Now make sure your insurers are aware that you have whiplash - sting the prat who ran into you where it hurts, in his wallet!

Glad she ok NDP. Sure you will feel better in a couple of days. Left you a message on the other thread - basically dh was hit in his car by a drunk driver and had whiplash - because he went to the Docs and there were records he managed to claim £2000 compensation from the drivers insurers.

Take Care

NdP ... glad dd is fine. Do you need anything from Tescos/Pharmacy? Will happily pop out for you if you need anything at all.

Thank you for getting it checked. Get it noted with your insurers that you want to claim personal injury.... if you need a hand with anything to do with the claim call on me ok.

Haven't read all the posts but sorry about your accident. I had car accident about 5 years ago. I had whiplash and to my stupidness never wore a neck brace but had physio. Even now it sometimes can just stop working the muscles can cease up and I have to have really strong anti-inflammatrys (crap spelling) to get rid of the ceased muscles. I have taken to studying and practising yoga everyday to keep the muscles working. This can bother my upper torso and shoulders too. I think many people with whiplash have life long problems with it but I do wish I had wore a neckbrace when the doc told me to for one week straight away afyter the accident. I just thought that if I rested it would be fine and it wasn't and still isn't. Go for physio and wear a brace if you can.

moosh

The advice I've been given is to try and keep it mobile to avoid it ceasing up.

DH has been onto the insurers who have been told about the whiplash, I'm to expect a call from the Norwich Union Legal Dept in the next few days
