my elderly father fell on him this afternoon and ds has hurt his back.

dad is a big man-about 14 stone probably and ds1 is about 5 stone!

he cried and cried and said his back was hurting. he has had calpol and i have just given him ibuprofen before bed.

there are no marks and no swelling.

not sure what i should do really.

any ideas? anybody medical?

I'll hang around for a while. Have they phoned you back yet?

BoysAreLikeDogs · 31/08/2008 23:22

MMJ have just come across this.

I'll hang out with you and AvenaLife.

AvenaLife · 31/08/2008 23:23

Kids! I'm so pleased I stopped at one. I'd be on edge all the time.

themildmanneredstalker · 31/08/2008 23:27

ok-they've ju7st called.
they want me to keep an eye on him, check him in the morning to see he can move his head preoperly without having to turn his body, that there is no tingling or numbness.if there is any of this-i am to take him to a and e.

if he has none of those symptoms i am to take him to the walk in centre to have him checked over.regardless. but iwill phone the gp and take him there i think.
see how he is tomorrow.

i am paranoid about things like this.
i fell a couple of years ago and i broke my back-broke on eof the vertabrae. luckily i was ok but ittook me months to get over it and i still get pain now.

i had no tingling , no numbeness nothing. just excrucuiating pain.

oh god i hate being a parent.

he has woken up this morning very chipper.
he says it hurts ' a teeny bit' but can move everything properly, can turn his head, can do everything and all his limbs are fine.

Now if i hadn't phoned nhs direct i wouldn't have givien this another moments thought but now i am all agonising over whether i really need to make that trip to the walk in centre? which -as i don't drive-is going to take bloody ages!
