Long lasting Tummy Bugs

My DD (7) has been poorly now for 2 wks + with diahorrea. She is fine for a few hrs then goes down hill with a temp, tummy pains and general unwellness. Her normally large appetite is tiny and she only eats bland food. Today she refused Calpol as it would 'make her sick' - I gave her a paracetamol. (hope that was OK)
At her swimming lesson last Thursday she was fine and swimming one minute then she collapsed, started shaking, went white and was disorientated.
The DR said that this bug lasts for 2-3 weeks and she should be off school this week and go back gradually next week.
I'm really concerned - I have ME and her reactions look very "post virally" to me.
Any help or comments (or reassurance) gratefully received

Did you get back to the docs?

KatieMac · 18/02/2005 19:18

No - tupidly I thought as she was so much better - I didn't need to go. Now she is poorly - and its the weekend. Perfect timing

Mind you that is the longest she has been better so maybe it is going - just slowly

Well DD is back at school - with intermittent tummy pains and diahorrea (sp). She's going am on m,T,Th,& F and pm on W (as they have PE in the am)

All the teachers and helpers are being encouraging to her and she is managing - but slept for 1.5 hrs on mon, less on Tues.....today was a disaster as she was tired when she went in.

Any useful hints to get her back on form

Back to the Dr's again today....a locum

I spoke to him about her pooping her pants and in the bath and he said it was an impacted faeces (sp). He examined her and said -did she have tea last night, I said yes a roast & pudding

He said there were no solids in her bowel at all and requested both types of sample

So AT LAST something is being done
