what do you think this is? rang nhs direct and they weren't very helpful and out of hours doc has no appointments

ds has been poorly since tuesday. he's had a temperature although that seems to have gone now, sore throat (well i think he has - he won't eat and isn't drinking much but he isn't able to tell me if it hurts so can't be sure), doesn't want any clothes on (not sure if this is cos he is hot or possibly itchy??), diarrhea, bad cough and his ear hurts cos he keeps pulling on it. today he's come out in a rash aswell although it is only on his chest and tummy.

If he has a painful ear the nyou should be seen. Ring nhs helpline back and mention the earache, and rash. When did you lazst ring them?

go to doc first thing in the morning?

out of hours doc HAS to have appointments for children

Doesn't sound like much worth worrying about tbh. My Dr refuses to give ABs for children with red ears unless thye have been poorly for at least a week, or unless there is discharge coming from them.

I'd put it down to a virus, but I am quite lax in worrying about my children's illnesses. My 14 year old had a burst appendix and peritonitis and I told him he was constipated and to have a good poo

The out of hours doc can't just say 'we have no appointments'. Do they think your boy doesn't need to be seen or that he can wait until Monday?

Virus with possible ear infection. Could wait til tomorrow or Monday with nurofen and calpol at which point ear will be better or worse.

nhs direct said it could be a viral rash or it could be measles and to just keep an eye on him. he hasn't been ill for longer than a week so perhaps that's why they thought he didn't need to see a doctor?

nhs direct is total waste of time IMO
can you ring your gp's out of hours on-call line instead?
