DH is covered in a really weird rash - does chicken pox show up differently in adults???

The kids have both had/are having chicken pox this fortnight.

He's never had it.

He's been feeling off for a few days, had one pox-like spot, but nothing else.

Now he is covered all over his back and chest with a weird rash - it looks like a pressure mark from when you have been leaning on a bobbly blanket/german measles?!?! He has had german measles.

It doesn't look like pox unless it is the very start and they haven't raised yet.

I'm worried

He's tired, and has been off colour for a few days.

Good luck!

Dr didn't seem bothered by the new non-blanching rash (), checked him over, confirmed the original, now fading, rash is NOT pox.

Pretty much going with the theory that whatever it is is on its way out, call if things change

That sounds good. How's he feeling today?

Aching but not too bad

Ooh, I had something like this (minus achey balls, obviously!) about a month ago.

I had 4 days of feeling very fluey, then came out in a bright red rash all over that looked a bit like sunburn. When I described it to NHS direct, they suggested it could be scarlet fever. They advised me to see my G.P. the next day (this was on a Sunday).

Before I had chance to see the G.P. I came out in patches of a purple, non blanching rash on my abdomen. Within an hour, more patches of this appeared and I ended up in A&E with suspected meningitis/septicaemia. After ruling that out, they suggested I'd got a virus like Glandular Fever. I'm still not well, and I'm still in the dark as to exactly what it is as blood tests showed I've had the Epstein-Barr virus in the last 3 months or so, but the Dr said that's not recently enough to cause this! Maybe there's just some big, nasty viral things doing the rounds?

Hope your dh feels better soon.

Oooooooooooh that's interesting! We were leaning towards scarlet fever (fit the best) until the septicaemia rash. He seems fine now, just achey and tired.

I had the spot too, but before I had any other symptoms. Just one blistery, weird spot on my chest. That went ages ago, but another appeared yesterday.

Sis in law's friend had the red rash for a few days and felt a bit run down, but she didn't have any of the nastier things that I've had.

I was just advised to rest, take painkillers as necessary and have plenty of fluids as my appetite's been a bit hit and miss because my throat's been really sore. I've got to have more blood tests this week.
