Spider naevus. Any experience of this please? My dd has one on her face

Dd is 6 yrs and it's come up over the last few months. It's not too bad but obviously she'd rather it wasn't there.

Doctor today said it may go on it's own or the other option is possible cosmetic surgery, which I will investigate.

I'd really appreciate any thoughts/experience. Many thanks.

How long did your ds have it may I ask please?

I think I had one on my hand when I was small and ds has one on his, but on her pretty face is another matter, because it's v visible

I developed this some time during childhood - I can't remember when and neither can my mum. Nobody else in the family has it. I remember it being on my left hand as a child and at some point it spread up my left arm.

But when I was pregnant with DS1 it got worse and worse - it spread to my chest and was bright, bright red. I saw a specialist and was told that the pill and pregnancy are the 2 worst things for it. Like you I was told that worst case scenario I could have laser surgery but it's never worried me that much (but it's not on my face).

Since then it has faded and never got so bad during my 2nd pregnancy. I am a bit conscious of it but generally people say they wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't mentioned it.

I feel I'm factfinding a bit here on this atm.

I think I might be prepared to allow laser surgery as it's on her face if the surgeon could be reassuring abut the outcome.

As it's only recently come along it seems v noticable (to me only probably).

No-one has teased her about it to my knowledge, but some of her friends have asked her what it is, so they have noticed. There seems no rhyme or reason as to why it's popped up.

Your daughter's will hopefully fade with time. I'm just looking at my arm and you can barely see it at the moment (thanks to a bit of fake tan ) It's not noticeable at all on my left hand which is where it started.

I had one as a child on my face - I don't have it anymore! I don't know when it disappeared but it definitely did and it was quite prominent on my nose as a child.

I am sure it will fade over time.

I had one and it didn't fade, and so I did the laser removal. It took literally seconds and cost about £120. Didn't really hurt either. It wasn't a surgeon that did it but one of those clinical beauty clinics iykwim.
