My do used to get this.

His chiropodist advised taking a cold can of drink from frodge and rolling it under foot to reduce swelling.

But I sus[ect he was a sadist.

Will watch rest of thread and report to dp.

I had PF, it first occurred 6 months ago after a running injury. Sadly, wearing running shoes with added cushion heel inserts is the only things that really helped. It's totally gone now, touch wood, and I have even resumed running again. It takes time. And clunky shoes.

This may sound odd, but do you have red scaly skin anywhere - like psoriasis?
You could have an intolerance to gluten. Try giving up wheat for a while?
My dh had very sore heels and red patches on his skin and we found out he has a gluten allergy (dermatitis herpetiformis) here
He had sore heels with it and sore knees also.

HTH!

thanks for all replies - have bought my heel inserts and running shoes. . .. don't think wheat is an issue having checked site but thanks!

I Had it really badly last summer, got to the point where I couldn't walk for more than 10 minutes and the pain was half way my calf.

Went to see a chiropodist.
Advice was take nurofen for 2 weeks. Ice pack on foot and leg 10 minutes a day. Never walk barefoot if possible even in house on hard floors. Wear soft shoes like Crocs or Birkenstocks where ever possible.

It cleared up within about 2 weeks.

christywhisty · 21/07/2008 20:16

Meant to say the nurofen is quite important as it reduces the inflamation in the tendon that runs along the bottom of the foot.

Plantar Fasciitis (with possible calcaneal spur) needs regular cooling (roll a cold can of drink under your foot) and stretching, anti-inflamatories. Typically very painful when you get out of bed in the morning and cant put your heels to the ground. Takes a while to settle down, prolonged extreme cases can be treated with steroid injections, but they're very painful!!

ultrasound is fairly effective.

I had something similar and the GP advised that I wore heels. Not 3.5 inches or anything silly but I used to wear flat shoes and he advised a heel of about 2 inches.

I had Plantar Fasciitis in both feet and I couldn’t seem to find any relief from the pain. I took 5 shockwave therapies till now and have been stretching exercising and putting night split, ice rolling, shoes. And I couldn’t even walk without pain. I?ve been using MEDICOVI Twin-heels orthopedic insoles. There's extensive information for patients on their page - www.medicovi.com . It's a new type of orthopedic from Scandinavia, Denmark. I’ve been using theese for months now and I’ve just bought my second pair. I’ve always suffered from pain in my feet, especially around the heels. Since owning these my life has literally changed. I can now walk with a smile on face. Can’t recommend them highly enough.
