Just wanted some opinions before I act one way or another. Brief background DS 19months, has chronic lung problems, believed to be persistant bronchitits. On and off long term antibiotics, many admissions, with some viral wheeze issues thrown in for good measure.
Recently he has been quite well so was taken off anti.b's by our gp (normally i dont go to gp for anything chest related, under fab respiratory consultant). The reason behind this was constant diarrhoea. Fast forward 2 weeks.
His chest sounds terrible again. He is very ruttly, lots of green sputum and terrible wet cough...but...he is well in himself. NOt off his food, happy, running around etc etc.
Now I know from experience if I take him to doc, they will send him to a/e who will admit. His sats are always below 92% when he is like this. They will pump him full of asthma meds, oral steroids, more chest xrays and restart anti.b's. My dilemma is he really doesn't seem sick. We get stuck on a baby ward where it is frowned on if he runs round, and ideally they want him stuck in a cot, fine if he feels miserable but it will be torturous now.
So, is it terribly negligent to leave him and reassess daily? He is due a follow up with consultant next monday anyway.
As regards what will happen if i do take him, I would bet my bottom dollar thats what will happen as his chest IS so bad.
SO what would you do?
