Been to loo for a wee. Wiped self. Red blood on tissue. Wiped again, bit more blood.
Last period was 4 days late so now due on July 25th. What could it be? Smear about 2-3 months ago was okay. It isn't the first time I have had bleeding mid cycle, though not noticed it this red before.

Sometimes you can ring for an appt and get
one, other times you have to say for what and then they tell the triage nurse, she rings and decides if you can see someone.

I have a cervical polyp which causes mid-cycle bleeding.

I would actually tell them what the problem is, in a very firm voice.

Our receptionists never ask BTW. Why do they need to know?

TheFallenMadonna · 11/07/2008 16:39

Oops - read you last post .

Really, I would tell them why you need the appointment.

2point4kids · 11/07/2008 16:43

or just lie. say something completely different and then tell the dr that you lied because you felt uncomfotable with the nosy receptionist insisting on you telling her problems!

charitygirl · 11/07/2008 16:43

Yes - just say blood in urine.

They need to know to decide if your problem warrants being since by an actual doctor.

I have had period like pain for the last hour and a pain in my back too.

Just off to start getting the kids ready for bed. DH still at work and my 3 year old has been atrocious today. DS1 just hit me in the face too.

Do you have an out of hours service? Call that and you'll end up speaking to a nurse or doctor. You're worried about it. Call.

itati · 11/07/2008 18:36

I feel really silly now as the bleeding has stopped though I can feel myself leaking something.

Rang NHS direct as didn't want to risk the dragon again. A nurse is ringing me back within 4 hours but it might be within 1 hour. Sounds so trivial now but the pain hurts.

She has rung and says GP on Monday.

Thanks all for your help and support.

Now wondering if it is linked to ovulation as 14 days til period due . Irony is hardly ever had ovulation notice until after DH was snipped!!

My sister gets an ovulation bleed, it could possibly be that. When you go to the doc, ask him/her to do a bi-manual check, as they can often feel fibroids, etc.

Well done for having the courage to call the doc, these things are never easy

itati · 11/07/2008 20:40

What is a bi-manual check?

OP posts:
girlnextdoor · 11/07/2008 20:50

Is it from your urethra or your vagina? could can tell the difference by washing first, using a tampon and seeing if it's still there.

More likely to be hormonal spotting- don't worry- prob.nothing.

itati · 11/07/2008 21:01

I am not weeing blood but was there when I wiped. Took paracetomol earlier and the stomach pain has eased now.

OP posts:
SubRosa · 12/07/2008 09:10

The bi-manual check is where they put two fingers up you (sorry if tmi) and then feel around your abdomen for any lumps or bumps. If it's something like a large fibroid, it's apparently quite easy for them to find it.

How are you feeling this morning, hope you're not suffering too much?

itati · 13/07/2008 16:11

Haven't been too bad, thank you, and the bleeding has stopped. I am thinking it was ovulation and I was jusy very obvious with it.

SubRosa · 13/07/2008 16:41

Glad you're feeling better
