Just hoping that someone else has this 'abnormality' - I am a mum of 1 ds and have been told when he was delivered by c-section (ds was in tranverse breech position) that it could be that if I do conceive again (take 8 years 1st time) that I have a high risk of ectopic. Any info on this one - thanks

Try the NCT experience register. This is a list of people all around the country who have all sorts of experiences relating to pregnancy, childbirth and parenting and are willing to talk to others who find themselves in the same position. Although there are people with common problems, there are also those who have unusual conditions like discovering you have cancer when you are pregnant. I wouldn't be at all surprised if there is someone who has your condition.

Phone 0870 444 8707 for details.

Good luck

zippyb - I also have this 'abnormality', and am a mum to a ds born by C-section due to transverse lye (back over hole)-(the Dr's never believed me he was lying that way - but that's another storey).
I'd not been told anything about increased risk of ectopic pregnancy (can't see why that might be true) but was thinking of going and discussing likely senario for any baby No 2. I'd obviously be interested in anything you find out, or any other info from other mumsnetters.

Janeway - hope that you have more sense from your doctors than I have had! 1st consultant after ds born said because of the shape of the womb I would have to have one 'tube' clipped because if I got pregnant and baby started to develop in the 'horn shape' of the womb that there wouldn't be enough room for development and possible 'ectopic' although to me this is not an accurate description of a real 'ectopic (sister had one 3 years ago - awful) but end result would be excessive bleeding. Anyhow she totally scared me off - was only just about recovering from c-section!! Left it for 3 years & went to see another concultant who advised me not to have anything done & that chances are that having had one healthy baby there is no reason to worry - just asid that if I have problems eg - miscarry then go back & see him!! However he did say that he has done 3 c-sections on a woman with same condition & all babies have been fine. Am trying to conceive at moment (not right now of couse!) and just want as much information as I can find without driving myself potty.

I had a friend who had this. DS was transverse born by section (although they told her he was fully engaged!). DD was section 2 as well and then they told her that she didn't have this abnormality at all. So god knows what they were looking at fisrt time round!!!

Me too with this condition...my dd is nearly 2.6 months and was born at 33.5 weeks.I have quite a bit of information now due to a little research and a good talk with consultant.Just a couple of questions to everyone.

  1. When was your condition diagnosed?
  2. Was it picked up on any scans?
  3. Did you have a pre-term birth? with any complications?
  4. Was it an emergency c-section?
  5. Was baby breech or transverse?
  6. Did baby have any complications at birth or later development? My daughter was born with a dislocated hip and was very swollen at birth. After spending the first year of her life in various splints, harnesses and casts at 19 months was still not standing, I was concerned(I am a Nursery Nurse so most probably more aware of child development than the average first time mum-not wishing to be rude to first time mums) but again it is different with your own child....and every mum knows there child better than any other person...even professionals!!!To cut a long story short at the age of 28 months my daughter was finally diagnosed with cerebral palsy diplegia. I am now wondering if this was due to "extremely difficult breech extraction" as described on her birth notes and whether if the condition had been recognised in pregnancy, the outcome of my emergency c-section would maybe be different. If you want to contact me direct then ask tech for email. DH and I are trying for number 2 but 6 months have passed and still not there yet....but its good to keep trying? We caught first time around with number 1.Is this to do with the condition? Thanks to all the mumsnetters who post info on their special needs children as well, this is helping me at the moment with various form filling....thanks

Hi Chatee - glad that someone has picked up on this thread. My DS was born at 37 wks - he was transverse breech - I had scans throughout pregnancy as I had a cyst which was growing & various other problems (cyst on DS head - too much fluid etc). DS had cord around neck when delivered but apart from being 'blue & cold' for a while after birth has been fine. He did have scan to check his hips which I gather is normal but all ok - has had a little trouble with his feet(just needs special insoles in shoes at present). We have been trying for a good while for No 2 but no luck - getting to the point where I am thinking that we were so lucky with DS that I shouldn't ask for any thing more but would really love another.

Oh yes forgot to say DS was by C-section - at 37 wks - did go into early labour at 34 wks but managed to just about hold on until then.
