Noticed whilst bathing ds this evening that he has just a few tiny fluid filled blisters, a few on his arm, one on his chest and one on his face. they are tiny which made me wonder. He isnt ill so am not worried but if its that I should probably tell the nursery.......

You only just noticed this evening? It will probably get worse...

DD only had about 8 blisters in total, 5 or so on her face, a few in the groin area. She was only a few months old but she seems to have immunity from it (unscathed by outbreaks years later).

DS had Chickenpox a few weeks ago - and thats how it started - just a few blisters in his hips - was like that for a few days and then came out across his body. To be honest - he only got about 20-30 spots in total and wasn't really ill in himself (didn't go off his food/slept ok) the only traumatic time was bath time when he was obviously sore (we gave him oatmeal baths and coated him in Eurax lotion - one night we did give him piriton as they seemed a bit itchy). I dreaded chickenpox, but perhpas we were lucky, but I thought it was a lot less hassle then lots of other tummy bugs/ ear aches etc. Towards the end the only real hassle was keeping him away from other kids as he was desperate to go to the play park.

Ahhhh, so probably is the pox then!

There is CP at the nursery at the mo so he has probably gotten it from there. Just wasn't sure if you could get it mildly (so mildly) as I nly seem to have seen poor children absolutely covered!

If it is only a very mild case of chicken pox, they may not develop an immunity, meaning they are quite likely to have them again.

I had really mild chickenpox as a child. Mum says I only had about 5 spots and wasn't unwell at all.

DS1 caught it when I was 6 months pregnant with DS2 so the midwife did a blood test to check my immunity. I was / am immune.

DT1 had only a few, then DT2 was covered in them, ended up on ABs

unknownrebelbang · 08/07/2008 20:36

DS1 was covered, offside and they got infected.

DS2 had the tiniest amount, slightly under the weather. Wouldn't have realised tbh if DS1 hadn't had them.

DS3 was covered, but cheery.

This all over a holiday in Yorkshire

i only had one. never had it since.

DD1 only had about 6 or 7 blisters

And has been exposed to a few C Pox outbreaks at nursery since, and hasn't contracted it again
