Dh has been in a huge amount of pain in his side. He was passing blood so went to the GP, who referred him to the hospital, and he has had an ultrasound which showed nothing wrong with his bladder and kidneys, but he had an xray today and they are marking it Urgent and he has to go back to the GP in a week. The GP is sure its kidney stones, but we won;t be sure until he sees the GP again, but its worrying for us not knowing.

Drink lots, he may be able to pass it, but it WILL BE SORE. If it is stones and he's in a lot of pain, he could get them broke up by laser.

I am just hoping it is kidney stones. He is on strong painkillers and using my wheatbags lots! He smells of lavander now lol

Tell him to drink loads of clear fluids, water and cranberry juice , to try to break it down and flush through. Dh had acute pain one night and went straight to a and e. he was discharged from the GU ward (full of old men with prostates!) a day or two but had to go back to have another xray and blood test(iirc) a week or two later, finally passing it about 6 weeks after the initial pain.

supposed to be the only pain worse than or equal to childbirth...don't tell him that though!

My dad suffers with kidney stones. He has to avoid certain foods like chocolate and strawberries

Need to avoid tea (and coffee?) as well, the tannin can cause stones.
