New molars in 5 year old - is this normal?

DD's 5 and has had all her teeth since she was about 18 months. She's been complaining of toothache and I had a look and she seems to have 3 or 4 new molars coming through - one's about 3/4 way there and the others are white dots. Is this normal? I didn't think the next adult molars came 'til a lot later.

I really feel for her as she's on a school trip today and I've left her in floods of tears (probably partly excitement) and sore teeth and no medicine.

Also should she see the dentist with these?

Thanks!

Completely normal.

They are called the 6 year molars, so she is early but they are supposed to be there.

Hope she doesn't suffer too much, thankfully they don't seem to bother children as much as other teeth.

They are permanent adult molars, so good oral hygiene is very important, as she'll keep them for ever.

No need to see a dentist, unless she has problems.

Thanks - somehow I thought she's get the wobbly teeth first, just shows what I know.

I'll console her by her being the first in her class!

Nope, it can happen in any pattern, each child is different!

Generally the molars pop thru first tho, as there is nothing waiting to be pushed out & it is easier!
