chicken pox - did you use common sense to judge when they were no longer infectious, or did you get the all-clear from a gp??

common sense (and when the majority of the spots had blistered)

liath · 07/07/2008 08:05

When the last spot has crusted over they are officially not infectious.

RubySlippers · 07/07/2008 08:05

doh - when the majority of the spots had DRIED out

cluckyagain · 07/07/2008 08:06

When all dried and no longer a blister.

pooka · 07/07/2008 08:07

I used the guidelines. i.e. when the last spots have crusted over, no longer infectious.
Didn't actually see the doctor when dd and ds had chicken pox. No point - was so obvious that that's what they had!

ChopsTheDuck · 07/07/2008 08:07

common sense. Our gp didn't really like us bringing in children with cp beacuse of the risk to other patients. Would consult over the phone.

in which case i think he is safe now

so i shall take him to nursery tomorrow

am worried about how people will react if we go shopping today though - he looks pretty scary

Do you have any touche eclat, tutter? That would make his spots less scary looking .....

Tutter · 07/07/2008 08:10

oh but of course, liath

Sunglasses and a hat might help hide some spots

I went to a gp for dd2 and dd3 as I was desperate to get back to work and childminder was a bit iffy about taking them back - so just wanted that officious opinion
