It is comfortable, forms a great seal and doesn't leak but,
I can't get it out!
I can just touch the end of the cut off stem with the tip of my middle finger, no way can I grab it at all.

Shall I buy a new one? Do I need a different make? It seems to fit right up over my cervix and am worried I may cough it up one day.

Try pushing out as though you are in labour.

AnyFuleKno · 05/07/2008 20:18

you mean right now?

intravenouscoffee · 05/07/2008 20:18

You don't need a new one. This happens to everyone when they first get a mooncup. Longdeadmother is right, try pushing. It'll be fine, honestly.

Bbbee · 05/07/2008 20:20

I think you may have put it too far up. Don;t worry you will get it out - you may need someone to help you!

AnyFuleKno · 05/07/2008 20:20

try squatting or putting one foot on the toilet and bear down like the others said

policywonk · 05/07/2008 20:20

Have you tried squatting - get right down on your haunches? Brings the whole combo further down towards the vaginal entrance.

AnyFuleKno · 05/07/2008 20:21

get dp to help if you get really desparate?

cupcakesinthesnow · 05/07/2008 20:23

Sometimes they are harder to get out if you ...err...need a poo. It may help to empty your bowel first

ManxMum · 05/07/2008 20:25

My saintly DH has had to remove it for me!
I have tried pushing, squatting, one leg up,fosbury flop, you name it.
Is my cervix just too high? I don't want to have to keep asking DH.

Bear down, and squat. It should move downwards.

ManxMum · 05/07/2008 20:27

I have tried siting it down lower, but it makes it's own way north. Pushed so hard I weed and pooed.

Which size have you got?

Olihan · 05/07/2008 20:34

I find this happens sometimes so what I do is stay sitting on the toilet, reach up as far inside as I can with thumb and forefinger, labour-push down on the mooncup, grab the stem, pull slightly further down then move my fingers up so they're on the ridged bit. Squeeze the ridged bit which slightly breaks the suction and tilt to one side. Then push/pull a bit more, moving your fingers up until you can squeeze the lip of it together to completely break the seal. And voilá - one free mooncup!

Tilting it to one side then the other, rather than pulling straight down seems to make it easier for me.

ManxMum · 05/07/2008 22:11

I have the larger one, but I think I should have tried it before cutting the stem off.

OP posts:
Ambi · 05/07/2008 22:12

Hold onto to the cup and squeeze to release the suction - ooops lik olihan says.

Olihan · 05/07/2008 22:13

Hve you cut the stem right off? Or left a bit?

FrannyandZooey · 05/07/2008 22:14

there's no need to insert it so far next time - it shouldn't be over your cervix, just far enough inside your vagina that you can't feel it any more

if it works itself up high again then squat, bear down, etc, reach up high to grab it

FrannyandZooey · 05/07/2008 22:15

look at picture 4

just inside the vagina, not right up the top

FrannyandZooey · 05/07/2008 22:16

oh sorry have read properly and it went up there by itself

do you think the size is correct? I have heard other people with the same problem, tbh

madmarriedNika · 05/07/2008 23:53

oooh just posted on the other thread with exact same problem. Mine also migrated north of it's own accord and I hadn't even cut the stem so should have had plenty to grab hold of but it was a nightmare to gte out (ended up one leg up, pushing down and using tweezers v carefully). Not sure what to do next time, have been scared to use it again... Incidentally I can't squat due to having a hip replacement. Do I need the larger size?

ManxMum · 06/07/2008 19:59

MMN, you used tweezers?!?! I tried kitchen tongs, but think forceps would have been more useful
There doesn't seem to be much difference between A and B, 3mm to be exact. I bought the larger one as I have had c sections and are 44 over 30.
Will give it another 'dry' (ouch) run as when it's doing it's job, it's wonderful.
Would be interested to know if is the larger ladies that have problems inserting and removing?

You have to go at it with the grace of a midwife measuring your cervix dilation!
