DD has a mark on her leg

To be honest, I'm not desperately worried about this, but just wanted to know if anyone had seen anything similar.

DD (14mo) had a nasty viral rash when she was 4mo, and she has one mark on her leg that I never noticed before the rash, but has never disappeared. Its not growing or anything, sometimes it looks faint, sometimes redder, and you would probably think it was a bite. I've mentioned it to the GP whenever she's had a check, and he's never been remotely concerned about it, just to keep an eye on it for any changes. I've always been convinced its scar tissue, mum thinks its a birth mark.

Doesn't bother her at all. Any ideas?

ds1 has a birthmark on his wrist. It looks like a fagburn!

I'm just wondering whether I wouls have noticed it though, before the rash, its hard to tell. Its about the size of a 5p piece.

DD has something similair on her back which is a light brown and has got more noticeable over time.

DS has a red one on his neck which has faded since birth.

I would guess at birthmark too.

Thanks - maybe I just didn't notice it before the rash. Strange! But if she's not worried, then I'm not worried, I guess!

And yeah, its red, not brown.

DS does tend to look redder if he is warm or has been running around a lot too.

My dd has a little pink birthmark on her leg. Sometimes it is more noticable than others. I noticed it from day one though (mind you with a family history of birthmarks maybe I was just more 'aware')

Hmm

I wasn't being funny or nasty. All I meant was I was probably paranoid and looking for them subconciously.

Pinkjenny · 04/07/2008 16:39

Oh I didn't think you were. The was intended to mean I wonder what dd's is!!!

Everyone is so used to being pounced on, I promise I wasn't pouncing!

dds was fairly noticable after birth (like I said I suppose I may have been looking though) But it seemed to fade almost totally for a long time, but it is def back now and 100% a birthmark.
I guess if your dd's has been there for 10 months it stands a good chance that's what it is. From memory birthmarks are something to do with blood vessels bursting and not healing properly in the womb. (I'm prepared to be corrected) and viral rashes are caused by a similar thing so maybe it is a post-birth birth mark?
Glad you weren't pouncing. That comes out too often with the pouncers so it's hard to recognise as a genuine !!
