My little one has on going mucus/ clogged lungs. Does anyone know if it would be worth buying a humidifier for her bedroom? No drugs work, and the herbal capsules smelling of menthol don't do anything either. Guess over the counter stuff are all placebos so am feeling a bit helpless.

What do you all use when your babies have colds, say?

we found a humidifier worked very well when ds was bunged up with a dry cough.

Lil, we use a wrung-out towel (sometimes with a few drops of Olbas oil in the water) on a radiator to create the same but cheaper effect, which I think works.

oh yes i second the recommendation for the vaporiser - that and the humidifier saved our sanity when ds had a more or less permanent cold during his first winter at nursery...

Would definitely recommend a humidifier in the bedroom and have resorted to running a hot shower in the bathroom and standing next to the open cubicle on a couple of very bunged-up nights.

I use a muslin with tea tree, chamomile and eucalyptus drops on it over a radiator. I would use a bowl of boiling water as well, but don't trust ds1 with it.

my dd suffered from Asthma as a baby - the humidifier was a real saviour. It really helps with coughs and colds - we still use it. well worth the money
