I made the salad on Monday and it's been in an airtight container since. I'm sure salad shouldn't mess you up, should it?

Am also 33 weeks pregnant and had the worst night last night, couldn't sleep, couldn't put bump anywhere without huge amounts of pressure/pain, and then started getting Braxton Hicks just to round it off. Am really fed up!

did it have cheese in it?

bohemianbint · 03/07/2008 13:43

Yeah, it had feta in it. Would that do it?

Feta, perhaps

belgo · 03/07/2008 13:43

What is greek salad? I know salad always has to be well washed beore eating.

MehgaLegs · 03/07/2008 13:44

Was the salad rinsed well? Do you have an upset stomach?

HuwEdwards · 03/07/2008 13:44

cheese is the only thing ever togive me a d&v bug although it was brie in my case.

bohemianbint · 03/07/2008 13:45

Buggery feta - I thought it would be alright! I literally just put cucumber, tomato, red onion, olives and feta in a tupperware box, and put the dressing on seperately.

And here was me trying to be healthy!

Grin
MehgaLegs · 03/07/2008 13:46

What are your symptoms bb?

belgo · 03/07/2008 13:47

Salad vegetables always have to be washed well due to risk of toxoplamosis (I think this is quite unusual though).

If you are ill and having braxton hicks, I would contact your midwife/GP BB.

bohemianbint · 03/07/2008 13:47

I washed all the salad myself. I haven't been vomiting or anything but feel permanently nauseous and have loads of pressure in bump. It almost feels like it could be trapped wind or something (sorry, TMI!) but nothing seems to be helping!

It probably is just a tummy bug, I think you are more susceptable during pregnancy. I would still contact your midwife though.

MehgaLegs · 03/07/2008 13:49

Poor you. Maybe a bit of head down bum in the air wiggling might help the wind thing.

(Make sure nobody can see/hear you)

OrmIrian · 03/07/2008 13:50

We all had a tummy bug last week. Not really bad but unpleasant. And one night I couldn't sleep because of sore bloated tummy. Might it be that?

bohemianbint · 03/07/2008 14:24

Orm - could well be. There seems to be a lot of things going around at the mo, so maybe.

I might give the midwife a ring if am still bad tomorrow. Is feta one of those cheeses you're supposed to avoid when pregnant? I've been a bit slap dash with this pregnancy and am wondering if this is my comeuppance...

you're supposed to avoid soft cheeses due to risk of listeria. I may again be showing my culinary ignorance but I don't think feta is a soft cheese?

But any gone off cheese would be a potential source of food poisoning.

bohemianbint · 03/07/2008 15:16

Hmmm...just googled and apparently feta is fine. It really shouldn't have gone off, I don't think, it was fresh on Monday and been kept in the fridge! I wouldn't mind but have been all carefree and eaten brie and tiny bits of stiltion to no ill effects!
