The flu vaccine, do you ever suffer from side effects?

As I'm now in my 50's, suffer from a few chronic health issues (not respiratory), care for an elderly parent with advanced dementia and have myself suffered from flu in every decade since my 20's I've decided to have the flu jab this winter.

However, I'm really concerned that it'll make me feel like crap. I know if it does it's unlikely to last long but I already feel like crap every day (IBS, perimenopause, endometriosis) and really don't want to feel worse than I do although from experience I know a dose of the flu will make me feel dreadful so a small price to pay I suppose if I do react.

Do you get your shots and do you ever have reactions from it?

I had no reaction at all this year, not even an achy arm

I’m usually pretty rough, but I usually react badly to vaccinations. Only lasts for a day though, I just always make sure I time when I have it, as I can usually write off the next day.

I’ve always put it down to being an “allergic person”, as I have multiple allergies and wonder if there is something in it that makes me rough.

Similar chronic illnesses, aching arm and that’s it. Covid jabs usually make me feel awful but flu not at all xx

I never have until this year. OK the following day, then head felt as if it was on fire, terrible aching arm, neck and shoulders. Then two days of cold-like symptoms, then the day after that dreadful joint pain. Feeling better now, ten days on, but it really knocked me for six.

I had mine on Friday. Ive had it for many years and never had any side effects until this year's! Was fit for nothing yesterday, achy, hot, very tired. Fine today. Still better than a dose of flu.

Achey arm and maybe a bit tired but nothing awful. Have it every year.

Same. I usually don’t have a bad reaction but have been lying in bed for past two days with headache, body aches and shivering. Day 3 is tomorrow so hopefully I will get over it

No, in all the years I had the flu vax, I’ve never once had an adverse reaction.

I had mine on Friday. Arm is slightly tender to touch, but that's all.
