Ouch, I've got a chipped bone in my foot

Fell down the stairs yesturday (sp?), and after spending two hours at the A and E, I was told that I have chipped the bone in my foot quite badly.

Got a 'soft' plaster from my toes to my knee and crutches. But it hurts .... lots!

How long will it be like this for?

Thanks

Ooh about eight weeks - sorry.

It'll start to feel a bit better in about 3 weeks but it's going to hurt for ages.

Take strong painkillers. No point in suffering unnecessarily.

I had part of my heel bone removed during surgery and holy crap it was the worst pain I've ever experienced. You have my sympathy!

I'm taken painkillers constently today but it doesn't seem to be taken the edge of it.

I tell my dc all the time not to mess about on the stairs

What are you taking? I hope you are not trying to get by on ibuprofen/paracetamol. You need diclofenac or codeine at least. If you only have the over the counter things, you can take paracetamol and ibuprofen together for 48 hours till you can get to better drugs

Yeah, don't feel bad about injuring yourself on the stairs. I ended up having major surgery to my foot because I had a sodding blister which I ignored and which turned into an abcess (overnight) and septacaemia (the next day) so I had to have part of my heel bone carved out and all the soft tissue removed - then the wound packed out with iodine soaked bandages for a month.

at your blister. Sounds awful.

I'm on co-codamol, but only over-the-counter ones, going to see the doctor on monday for some stronger ones.

Never realised how painful a chiped bone could be!

Still, got some chocolate for later tonight anyway.

Shouldn't say this but alcohol is supposed to be good with co-codamol.

Also if you have any arnica in the house it'll help promote the bruise to come out.

Was a bit bloody embarrassing being hospitalised for ten days for a sodding blister as well. Esp. as I was still wearing the same silly shoes when I checked in

lol at wearing the same shoes!

May have a drink then! Anything just to stop the bloody pain!
