Just got over the nits to experience the fresh hell of threadworms! I found one last night - I appear to be the only one affected but we're supposed to treat the whole family. DD is only 10 months and still breast feeding quite a lot - anyone have any experience of what I can take? (I've posted this in "breast and bottle feeding too"). AAAAAGH!!

You can take Piperazine medications, as opposed to Mebendazole ones. Ovex is Mebendazole, but Pripsen do both - I took it when pregnant, with OBs blessing (and great relief, wasn't sure if I had them but pretty sure dd did!).

Make sure its the Piperazine version though - and make sure you go to the loo the next day, as it doesn't kill them, just paralyzes them long enough to 'expel them'

Oh, and I would do the follow up treatment two weeks later!

Good luck, especially with the washing/cleaning...

You're welcome - you will see 'check with your dr if pg or bf' but FWIW, I did, and it was fine. It might give your dd the runs, though, be warned - it has laxative in it - so if she has delicate digestion or is v small for her age, I would ask GP first.

When dd1 did (definitely!) have TW, dd2 wsa just over a year old and we gave her Piperazine Pripsen - she had pink diarrhoea twice then was fine. And no worms in any nappies - your little one may have escaped
