He's at home with his gran. She;s just given him calpol and cold flannel. he was off his food yesterday but seemed to have perked up this morning. But he got sleepy in the afternoon. My instinct is to give it a while for calpol to kick in but should i ask her to do more now?
want to be with him and can't be.

i wold give the calpo about 1/2 hour to work....but 38.7 isnt terrible high....i would tell her to strip him off to his nappy too and let him have cool juice/ water....no milk, it comes back up when they are hot

I'm stuck at home with my 6yr old DD2 today and she has a temp of 39c. Calpol helps a bit but then she gets hot again.
Hate it when they get ill, don't like seing them all listless.

thank you. just feel that if i could pick him up and hold him, i would know instinctively what's wrong.

i think yo tend to feel guilty when they are ill and you arnt there.....he will be ok im sure.

jsut ask you mum to keep checking him and if it goes up any more then let you know and you can decide what you want to do

oh oranges i feel for you - its pants not being around when they are poorly. But remember your mum managed to get you through childhood . Mind you, i would ring her and tell her to abandon the cold flannel as that can often bring the core temperature UP. How old is he? Maybe a warm both and then air dry, this is apparently the most effective way of keeping a temp down.

try not to worry, hes with the next best person to his mummy xx

warm bath!

It's my MIL who is lovely but does not believe in medication - I had to order her to give calpol. seems to have worked and he wanted to be read to till bedtime. Thank you so much for your support, and ripeberry, hope your dd gets well too. It is horrid seeing them listless. didn't know that about the cold flannel lucyellen's mum - so would warm flannel and air dry work? it's hard getting him into the bath safely when he's unwell as he wriggles.

i lost my mind at work or so - just picked up the phhone and wondered how what the person at the other end was saying could possibly BE MORE IMPORTANT THAN MY SICK BABY!!!
