Cutaneous Lymphoma diagnosis?

TheLightOfDay · 13/07/2026 23:42

I’ve been waiting many weeks for my incision biopsy results to come back.

The original results were referred on to a cancer hospital to rule out cutaneous lymphoma and cutaneous pseudo lymphoma.

While I (very impatiently) wait to hear anything, I thought I would ask if anyone else has had this diagnosis?

I think the pseudo is more likely - anyone had that?

That was about 5 weeks ago and I’ve yet to hear the outcome - actual biopsy was about 12 weeks ago.

Would be grateful to hear about any experiences.

Should it take that long for results?

Well that’s a good question. I guess transferring stuff to another hospital takes time, not sure if they send the actual samples or just the pathology report though?

But I can imagine there are logistics that would draw out the process.

It’s also entirely possible that my consultant has had the results back, they’re not urgent and he hasn’t had time to contact me.

It’s frustrating and my patience for waiting ran out a couple of weeks ago.
I’ve left messages and his team says they’ll email him. The first time was about 10 days ago and the second time was 4 days ago. I know they are all insanely busy and I also know if it was urgent he would have called me by now.

Next stop PALS I guess.

Anyone had this?

I guess it’s slightly rare - if I do a search on here a lot of stuff comes up about dogs 😬

Not had it but have some knowledge of dermatology (cutaneous T cell lymphoma and mycosis fungoidis). It does seem a long time to get the results and chasing them up is the right thing to do. I hope your rash/lesions are manageable and not becoming larger. Please go to PALS if you don't get a response from someone soon.

Thanks for the reply. It’s manageable thanks, just a bit unsightly. And still growing/spreading, albeit slowly.

I emailed PALS this morning, so hopefully I’ll hear from them in the next couple of days.

A friend of mine has this. She’s been diagnosed about 2 years and has had a
variety of treatments and scans. Has been a long road but she finally has a good team and is making progress.

TheLightOfDay · Yesterday 19:38

I’m sorry to hear that but very glad that she is making progress.

Was her diagnosis longwinded? I appreciate you may not have been closely involved with that side.

I’m still expecting it to be most likely pseudolymphoma which mimics the lymphoma so closely it takes a very expert eye to tell the difference, in the histology sense. Luckily I don’t have other symptoms of lymphoma. But still till I get the final word I can’t be quite sure.

She went through all sorts of diagnoses from lymphoma to slobber rash from the dog.

she has lymphoma but it isn’t in her lymph nodes . Had a variety of treatments from cream, oral methotrexate , radiotherapy and now weekly infusion.

That seems to have had the biggest impact. Lesions much less now- they had got really quite pronounced.

TheLightOfDay · Yesterday 20:31

@18Manorclose wow she really has been through a range of treatments! Very glad to hear it isn’t in her lymph nodes and that she’s found a treatment that’s really helping.

First couple of times I went to the GP they were a bit dismissive, but finally I got an appointment with the mole/lesion expert and he wasn’t at all dismissive luckily.

But it’s a slow road to diagnosis, whatever it is - it’s been at least 14 months since my first GP appointment and I’m 2 biopsies down!
