Migraines and hormonal fluctuations.

Last week I had what I think was my first proper post baby period, ie not spotting. It only lasted two days though. This week I've had a migraine which is something I really only get very rarely. It was so agonising with visual disturbances and nausea, it took 1000mg paracetamol and 500mg ibuprofen just to make it bearable. I wondered if the two are connected, that my hormonal fluctuations caused the migraine. I do hope so, I have been very tired recently too but I hope it was the hormones as I don't think I can go through that again.

I get this every month! From the middle to the end of my period, I have to avoid cheese and too much caffeine, otherwise I get awful migraines.
For the rest of the month I'm fine, so I've assumed it is hormone-related.
Hope you're feeling better now.

Yes, I get one for 48 hours before my period starts. This is 6 months down the line from having DD and has been the case every month.

I would agree that avoiding too much caffiene and getting some early nights (if possible) will help. Sometimes paracetamol etc doesn't even touch the sides of the pain.

I thought that might be the case... It's not something that normally happens to me so I'm hoping it's just a post baby blip. I don't normally avoid cheese and caffeine strictly speaking but I don't have that much anyway, I did have a rubbish night's sleep on Sunday night, 3 hours sleep followed by a 5am start for work and I've been struggling to catch up since. Maybe it's a combination of all those factors. Gawd I hope it doesn't happen again, I seriously thought I had a brain tumour this morning!
