So as my title says each time I go for a wee it’s all very stop start and I have to find myself restarting the flow several times I go for a wee. I do wee a lot and have large wees.

I did mention this to the gp on a recent visit as I was getting left flank pain so they are sending me for a kidney scan later this month. There was no blood in my urine at my apartment.

Does this happen to anyone else? What was the cause?

Thank you for reading.

For me it was a bladder prolapse. NHS gynae waiting times are terrible so I saw a private physio for pelvic floor work. I also have a ring pessary and am finally in the NHS system waiting for surgery.

Thank you, You have eased my worries somewhat.

i don’t think my visit to the GP has been enough to get this problem across so I think I need to go back.

My mum did have a prolapse and a hysterectomy around her 40s so I wonder if this is the case for me too.

Small prolapse for me also. I think it has the effect that the last portion of what is in my bladder is slightly lower than the exit route, so to speak, so that it doesn't have the same gravity-assisted journey as the rest and has to be pushed out.

GP wasn't concerned. Offered me the option of a ring pessary but I decided that (for me) the symptoms weren't severe enough - though of course with larger prolapses the problem will be more severe and the decision will be different.

Ah so does that mean a GP can diagnose this? I will have to book another appointment I am waiting on a kidney scan so was going to wait but I wonder if it’s worth getting the ball rolling now

How old are you? Are you menopausal?

it might not be prolapse. Topical oestrogen might help?

Worth a shot whilst waiting to be seen. There are so many women suffering so many issues needlessly, I think topical oestrogen should be an automatic prescription along with HRT.

You don't mention your age, which could be relevant. The older I get, I'm 75, the harder it seems to be to totally empty my bladder in one go.

However, I was in hospital recently and had to have a catheter fitted for four days. When it was removed the nurse told me that some patients find it hard to empty their bladder following a catheter.

she advised me to try sitting on the loo with my feet flat on the floor, leaning forward with my forearms resting on my thighs.

it helped me. So I'm passing this on in case it might help you.

Topical estrogen has been really beneficial for me for this. You absolutely have to keep using it regularly though, which I find frustrating however I think that’s a me problem as it’s not a big deal at all.
