I'll drink the whiskey for you then. It's a shame to waste it

not shivery, just a bit of the achey flu feeling....aka crap . Normally a hot drink and a couple of painkillers does the trick but not this time. Right, i;m going to do what I said now

put lots of clothes on in bed and sweat it out.

SlightlyMadSweet · 24/06/2008 22:16

So what non clean suggestions were you thinking of ???

winestein · 24/06/2008 22:17

Don't eat dairy products (eg frozen yoghurt and icecream)... it gives something for the (sore throat) bacteria to live on AFAIK.

As a sufferer of tonsitilis from time to time I can thoroughly recommend soluble aspirin.

DelGirl · 24/06/2008 23:18

well, no improvement so going to get some sleep instead. Have just googles and it seems there's not much that In can do so I don't know if I should bother the gp with it?

slightlymadsweet - I have no idea but I'm sure other mners do, that's why I said it

this sounds really gross but it does work - make an onion syrup using half a raw onion and sitting it on 2 tbsps sugar for a couple of hours - the sugar draws out the onion juice and makes a nice dark syrup which is excellent for soothing sore throats and is also antibacterial.

DelGirl · 25/06/2008 09:18

may try that later. Am off to the docs this morning and not sure he'd appreciate an onion breath, though it may be an improvement

raging this morning, I rang work and they couldn't understand me, I think they thought I was russian lol

well it is tonsilitis according to the gp and have been feeling very sorry for myself this morning it is soooooo painful. I bought some smash and some beans for my lunch, had forgotton how awful smash is but wanted something quick and easy to swallow. bleurgh. Will do my diet some good I guess!

I've just gargled with salt water which helped momentarily but nothing is helping at all! I'm taking paracetemol, ibruprofen and I bought some chloreseptic which has just given me heartburn instead. The gp gave me some antib's so i'm hoping they will help sob sob.

so, i've been taking ibuprofen, paracetemol, mouth spray and amoxycillin and I'm itching like mad. Which one is the culprit?

Had all 3 tablets before but not the spray and am also on citalopram.

help, I can't take anything else........

gargle aspirin (soluble). works a treat.

if itch is new, i would blame the most recent drug - amoxil.

DelGirl · 25/06/2008 21:25

I don't have any aspirin and i've never been allergic to amoxy before. I'll go and look at the leaflet. I'm not lumpy as it were just bloomin itchy

hope you feel better soon. if the itch isn't better tomorrow i would go back to your gp. sounds suspicious for an allergy to one of them to me.

DelGirl · 26/06/2008 07:22

feeling a little better this morning so I think the ab's must be working. My throat is still swollen but it is getting easier. Not quite so much itching either.
