Maryland Bridge in bottom front tooth - anyone have one ?

And would you recommend this?

I have a long standing area of infection underneath one of my front bottom teeth. It’s nothing to do with decay, I think I knocked it many years ago and I’ve already had two root canals but the tooth has gone wobbly again and the infection is back at the Apex of the tooth. The options I’ve been given are private micro Surgery but that’s very expensive… plus the tooth is slightly discoloured and no longer fits properly in its space as it has risen up a lot… So I’m not sure if it’s worth saving.

Implant, 4 1/2 thousand pounds for one tooth and because there has been some bone loss. I’m not even sure it’s viable, plus I don’t have 4 1/2 thousand pounds. I don’t really want to go for a cantilever bridge because they’d have to shave down neighbouring tooth and there’s nothing wrong with my neighbouring teeth. Also, the Dentist said they would likely be a tiny strip of metal visible along the bottom.

The only option I’ve been left with is a Maryland Bridge. I can pay privately to get White wings but that will add about £1000.

For about £400 I can have the whole job done on the nhs but with metal wings.

I wanted to ask people who already have this, can you see the metal wings when you turn your head to the side or open your mouth wide like if you were doing a big laugh? Would anyone be able to post any pictures please? My only worry about this is that people would be able to see the metal wings if I opened my mouth or turned my head to the side…

Thank you!

I have a Maryland bridge for my missing front tooth and it’s actually been brilliant. Maybe less visible than if I’d had at the bottom. It’s been brilliant really, I’m not sure how long they are supposed to last but mine has been there 13 years! Long term if it fails I might look at getting an implant but they are very pricey.

Can you get an appointment at a dental hospital? I’m not 100% on how it works but it might be worth it.

Thank you. Does yours have the metal wings ?
