Does anyone else not sweat much & struggle to regulate their body temperature? How do you cope?

I get / feel hot in anything over about 22 degrees, so this week has been hell.
(I also get cold under about 14deg & find it hard to warm up)
I don't sweat really so find it really hard to cool down.
I have a cool towel & have been putting my feet in cold water......wondering if anyone else has any top tips?

Andrew?

LittleBearPad · 27/06/2026 11:28

Sorry OP for teasing. I am sadly the opposite.

Do you use antiperspirant- if yes , stop

I am the same, I have a thyroid problem, so get yours tested. I struggle with heat and I’m better with cold but since my thyroid went very awry I find it takes longer to warm up again if I get really cold.

Go and see your doctor. There are many things that can contribute to this, some serious, you need tests to be sure.

I'm not Prince Andrew - then at least I'd have the money to go somewhere else !!
Don't need deodorant as nothing much happens under the old armpits...
Thanks all
Will see how I go next week when it goes down to 27.🙄

Yes, me! The current heatwave is really hard. The only relief is a handheld mist/spray bottle with fan. It works the same way on cooling down the skin as what sweat would do (minus the salt loss 😉). Was out to dinner with a friend last week (outside) and she thought it was hilarious! But it's my only way to cope in this weather 😆

I can relate!
I have Sjogrens Syndrome and an underactive thyroid.

I have just been drinking as much as possible and stayed indoors nearly all week.

I don’t sweat much and if I put on lotions or sun screen I feel like I am going to pass out in this heat.

I have one of those massive Stanley cups with a straw. I fill it full of ice and lemon wedges and some Himalayan salt. I then fill full of water and sip on that all day. Hydration is really important. If you drink it all, just me mindful not to add more salt but you can keep refilling with ice cubes and lemon wedges.

I wear cotton or bamboo. I wet the back of my neck and wear my hair up and frequently wet it. You can also wet the back of your wrists and knees and dip your feet into cold water.

I also have a little personal fan that is rechargeable. I keep it on pretty much all day along with room fans. Keep your windows open so air can flow through the house. I keep my blinds closed though.

I don’t eat ice cream unless I want insides to choose violence. So I have ice lollies.

Cool shower before bed with a pat dry.
