Ive just got my results back from the GP and my level is at 47. I am overweight but this has really given me a kick. Has anyone managed to reverse this?

Surely just cut down on sugar

blood sugar level fluctuates multiple times in a day

I take it this your HbA1c result....?

Nearly every patient I had with raised results managed to lower the level by reducing weight and going low carb. The freshwell app has some great tips on it.
Michael moselys books help too.
Good luck. I know I have borderline blood glucose levels and need to get 5 stones off. It's tough. I put on a pound last week and really wanted to give up. I'm tracking and weighing everything on nutracheck app.

@Musicaltheatremum im going to think about interesting salads to eat with chicken. I dont really eat sweets/drink but i am overweight by approx the same weight, most likely portion sizes.

Yes me. I was pre-diabetic (only just I think), and I went on a course of group workshops through my gp practice. Can’t remember much of the content but I basically stopped sugar (which I didn’t have much of anyway), and made sure to eat plenty of protein.
I had been ‘pescatarian’ but went veggie and eventually plant-based/vegan. My diet now is much more varied and I’m conscious of aiming for a much bigger variety of plants than 5-a-day.

I'm type 2, have been for nearly 20 years. My Dad and grandmother were also diabetic, seems to hit the 1st born of each generation. My HbA1C at diagnosis was around 68, I generally keep it around 44-48 now on just 10mg dapagliflozin and my diabetic nurse is happy as long as it's under 50. I can't eat bread, rice, pasta, any form of starchy carbs (it's a myth you can't just eat sugar) - and keep carb levels under 100g a day. I eat a lot of veg, salads, and cook mainly from scratch.

Reversing can happen for some, but not always. I'm happy in my lane just keeping it under control - as long as I'm not on insulin, I'm happy.

Check your thyroid... once i was put on thyroid meds ( and felt so much better) my blood sugars all dropped ! No longer pre diabetic ( and still eat the sanme!)

@keeptalkinghappytalk I do have an underactive thyroid but they haven't changed the meds.

I'll let you know in a couple of weeks.

I was diagnosed as pre-diabetic at New Year, also with a hba1c of 47. After discussing options with my GP I ordered Mounjaro 2 weeks later.

Coming up for 6 months later and I am 3 stone lighter and going back to have my bloods re-done around 12th July.

I eat high protein, low carb meals and have massively cut down on alcohol. Watch this space!

I started one of those paid glucose trackers that you stick in your arm a few days ago. The results so far have been very interesting. If I stick to mostly high protein and veg at meals - so eggs and smoked salmon with half slice toast for breakfast, something like pre made Caeser salad for lunch, snack of fruit and mini baby bel or high protein yoghurt then dinner just have a small amount of carbs with whatever I am having, the glucose level remains nice and low, especially if I go for a short walk after meals. It’s not even too bad if I have a small treat after a meal like an ice cream or glass of wine, but the day I had quiche and salad for lunch it rocketed up and down again so it looks like I am very susceptible to white carbs impacting me.
By making some changes to when I eat things and frankly being too scared to eat certain things again due to the disastrous impact to my health, I have already managed to lower my average glucose level a few points.

@rookiemere do you mind linking to this?
