“ Alternative” remedies for arthritis

Can’t sleep tonight as I am in so much pain from arthritis in my foot. Luckily I don’t suffer all the time but it can be excruciating. Can anyone recommend a supplement? I have been told about a few but can’t remember the names. I did think I might be offered steroids. It’s in my hands too although nowhere near as bad.

Glucosamine. The doctor recommended it for me, and the vet for my dog.

@Kunik which brand do you use? Apparently the best also contain turmeric & MSM. I looked at one but it was £35 for 90 tablets & you have to take 3 tablets a day!

Anyone else?

Is it osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis?
If I had a pound for everyone who told me to try turmeric, or glucosamine or gluten free or any others I'd be rich but I would still have arthritis. I have tried them all in desperation but nothing works. I suspect you have to believe in them.

The only thing that helps osteoarthritis is painkillers and topical diclofenec (aka volterol). The main treatment for RA is DMARDs from a rheumatologist.

In that case I would suggest volterol or Motusol gel.
It's also worth finding some physio exercises for hands and feet, these will help maintain joint movement and function long term. I wish I had done this 15 years ago but my joints in several fingers are now fused and I cant , for example, bend four of my fingers at all.

I know this is a bit woo but acupuncture helped me although mine is in two large joints. I did have to have a longer course than the usual 6 but it worked (or coincidentally the flare up stopped at the same time)
