Has anyone struggled with diastasis recti years after caesareans?

Has anyone struggled with diastasis recti?

I have had 3 caesareans, and am 5 years postpartum. I still have a huge gap in my stomach muscles, which causes a protruding some when I sit up, lower back pain and weak muscles which hurt if I move too quickly or turn over too fast at night.

I have tried various exercises, and attended months of PP core exercise classes after my last child.

Has anyone experienced similar?

Yep … 10 years on from last pregnancy and despite being very healthy and fit (train x4 times a week) I can’t get my belly flat and my core is weak. No advice - just here for solidarity!

Yes same here, also approx 5 yrs after cs. There are a few good instagram accounts with targetet exercises for this, "mommymangorae" is a good one with gentle exercises. I have tried some, and will continue to but don't expect my diastasis to close any further; the gap is not super wide but I can't generate any tension in the middle bc the fascia has weakened too much (i also had severe polyhydramnios and was basically as big as carrying triplets.. twice!)

So i think deep core and balance exercises are the way forward

I’m 23 years on from a difficult vaginal birth followed 14 years later by a traumatic c section and my stomach is completely wrecked. Huge gap, umbilical hernia etc. I’ve just learnt to live with it to be honest. I spent many years seeing private trainers, doctors etc about it but nothing has made any difference.

Gosh I also had severe polyhydramnios with all of my pregnancies! I was ridiculously huge.

Did the GP suggest any investigation?

Nope. They just confirmed it’s a hernia and the muscles have completely separated but unless I want to pay privately the NHS won’t do anything as it’s not actually harming my health (I do have complex autoimmune issues, under 5 different specialists so very familiar with how difficult it can be to get help on the NHS but they don’t impact my stomach issues).
