It came on quite suddenly and nothing I did relieved it Dh phoned 999 and we were blue lighted to resus.
They got him stable and we spent 3 nights on the ward
The doctors said they can't up his meds its just a case of keeping a close eye on him

Oh ali

I had a horrid feeling this would be your ds, when I saw the post title. I'm so sorry, it must feel relentless - and relentlessly worrying.

Is there an asthma society, or something, that offers support and information? Only if it were me, I think I'd be needing to talk to/hear from other parents who were experiencing the same sort of thing, and who could offer hope of LOs growing out of it, maybe?

My heart goes out to you, I've been in scary hospitalization situations twice, with dd2, but to go through it so regularly must be traumatizing in a whole different way. Hugs to you, and I hope ds gets and stays well for a good long stretch.

Thanks Elibean
His consultant has said he doesn't think he will grow out of it but thinks we can control it better
Just feels like there's no light at the end of a very dark tunnel

All the more reason to find some support, then, maybe? Its a horrid condition, asthma. But I do know many adults who have had it, have always had it, and manage it very well - so here's wishing the same for your ds, in time.

Take care of yourself, xx

Gosh sorry alibob. Is it an allergic thing with him? The pollens are bad at the moment. I have allergy asthma.

I know everyone will have said this to you but there's a good chance he'll grow out of it or at least it'll get better with age.

Sorry.

alibobins · 24/06/2008 12:23

His diagnosis sheet from his consultant at hospital say's allergic disease so I do think its all linked
Ds also suffers with anaphylatic allergies and just recently heyfever

He's very wheezy again today

How stressful and sad for you ali. I've had this all my life. It was really helped when I cut out dairy. I know it doesn't work for everyone but sometimes it's just a case of the over-sensitive immune system being overloaded with allergens so removing a dietary irritant can lighten the load and improve the symptoms.

Sadly our doctors aren't well trained in allergies. Infamously ignorant in fact.

My DS has been hospitalised twice and always at this time of year...I think certain pollens must be the killer.
I now up his meds at the end of Msy and keep them up til August.

What are the meds litchick? Are they anti histamines and do they make him drowsy?
