Yes breast milk is fab for this.

definitely squirt some breastmilk into her eye.

And probably take her to the doctor's as well, as she is very young.

Yup, used to be first line management in one of the hosps I worked in.

belgo · 23/06/2008 13:14

and do it several times a day.

papaya · 23/06/2008 13:15

Have just given it a go seems to have gone in fine. I am surprised he can even get a conjunctivitis type problem the amount of times i spray him in the face when feeding lol....

how often should i do it? I have just squirted a good dose in made sure its gone under his eyelid etc, shall i do it with each feed (every 2hr) or is that a bit excessive?

it won't do any harm after every feed.

papaya · 23/06/2008 14:09

thanks, will see how it goes this afternoon, can always take him for a sit and wait appointment at 5, or i may see how it goes today and if no improvement go first thing in the morning.

thanks x

My Gp said it was the best possible thing to do for eye infections and said to do it every couple of hours - it fights the infection, and dislodges the bacteria.

SofiaAmes · 23/06/2008 14:20

Do take him to the gp if his eyeball is red. My ds got this as a baby and I didn't take him soon enough and when I finally did was told off severely by the doctor who said that if I had left it any longer he could have ended up with impaired eyesight.
