Been on 50mcg Eltroxin since late 2017 it’s never been changed blood tests always fine tested yearly.
Had blood test two weeks ago the doctor rang me last Friday and said to take every second day until she could see me which was today.
She cannot understand how my TSH is 0.005 and free T4 37.3 ..as nothing has changed I’m not taking any other medication other than vitamins which she said are fine, she asked if I’ve had an infection but I haven’t other than the odd sniffles over the last few months.
I have had a racing fast heart for a few months I’ve noticed according to my watch that during sleep I range from 88-110 occasionally a lot higher..same during daytime fast heart rate..feeling extremely tired for months and a bit jittery also had 4 pounds weight loss without meaning to.
She has put me on 25mcg Eltroxin starting from tomorrow ( chemist computer was down so I can’t pick up the eltroxin till tomorrow lunchtime ) so can’t take it until then.
I have to go for a blood test on 9th June ..first of all she told me to not take any Eltroxin until the blood test but then changed her mind to start tomorrow and take every day
Anyone else had this.. I can’t sleep feel on edge

Do any of your vitamins or supplements contain selenium? That can impact thyroid function.

Mounjaro often has an impact too.

Also, general hormonal changes impact your thyroid hormone too. You’ve also said you’re taking eltroxin- if you’re consistently taking brand name and not varying generic levothyroxine this wouldn’t be an issue but if your chemist varies which brand of levothyroxine they give you, it can have a usually minor but sometimes not, impact on your levels.

hi No selenium in my vitamins..I told the doctor what vitamins I am taking and she said it wouldn’t affect my thyroid plus I’ve been taking them for years.
No mountjaro..I’m 49.8kg as it is I was about 51kg before.

(if I am remembering what they told me a few years ago)

A lot of people can have cysts (goiters) - they are harmless in themselves but can jump an underactive thyroid to overactive.

Has GP suggested an ultrasound and/or have you had one before?

Plus if you eat lots of iodine (seaweed and things), it could increase it (again, I think)

Hi thanks for replying.. actually had a neck scan for a lymph node three weeks ago and thyroid was checked..all good
No I don’t eat seaweed or any iodine foods..absolute mystery as to what’s happened

How odd!

If you have hashimotos thyroiditis your levels can fluctuate. However the NHS don't routinely test for hashimoto's just for under or over active

Mine did this 30-odd years ago. I felt dull and fat and sluggish, went to GP who said I was perimenopausal and to go away and see what happened. A month later, heart speeded up, weight dropped off daily, so went back...yup, thyroid had woken up, gone mad and actually burnt itself out. Been on levothyroxine ever since. I was never given an explanation but, if it happened to me now, I'd see an endocrinologist (private if necessary). Good luck.

my TSH changed suddenly from about7 to 0.02. Gp changed levothyroxine from 175 to 150. I totally forgot to go new test six weeks later but booked blood test for June.

Hi..did you have any symptoms? My heart rate is fast even during sleep I can’t wait for the 25mcg to start bringing it down.. and the tiredness is relentless

Could you be pregnant?

My Thyroid became very overactive when I was pregnant and then collapsed afterwards.

Also, have you always taken Eltroxin? I was told years ago that it is a much more bioavailable and stable form of Thyroxine for some people, because of the base. However, I have felt for the last 18 months that my Thyroid is very erratic and I have started to question if the Eltroxin is the reason. I think that it used to be made by Goldshield but then became unavailable for some time and is now being made by a different manufacturer.

I haven’t had any symptoms so far. Interesting to see what the value is after thyroxine decrease
