CT scan

Following on from this thread, the neurologist has said he wants to do a CT scan just to be 100% sure that there was no bleed in my brain. Has anyone had this done and what's it like? I've had an MRI in the past but not a CT.

TIA

I've had both, CT a lot nicer than MRI, you don't go into a tunnel just have a giant polo mint revolve around your head. No problem wearing metal either.
100% nicer than MRI
Good luck

CT scan is over and done with really quickly compared to an MRI. I seem to remember I had some dye injected into that thing they put in your hand (canula?)and was then scanned a second time. Even so I was in and out in under 15mins iirc.

Totally painfree and not at all claustraphobic like an MRI. Good luck with it, and I hope they sort your problems out. It sounds awful

Brilliant! That's what I needed to hear.

I don't actually think the neurologist is too worried considering his comment, "We just need to do a CT scan, firstly to check that you actually have a brain in there...."

Thanks both.

I had a CT scan at Christmas when I was admitted to hospital which turned out to be hemipligic migraines (which in my case caused the loss of movement down the right hand side of my body, they mimic strokes).

You get injected with the dye thingy, then just lie there while they scan away.

I didn't find it very comfortable but to be fair, I'd just been admitted to the hospital, and the docs thought I could be suffering a stroke, so I wasn't in the best of moods!

I read your other thread, hope you get sorted out! I have been told that my type of migraine can reoccur, which my docs thought probably not, but everytime I have a bad head, I'm in fear that I'll lose the function on one side of my body like before.

Poor you! That sounds very frightening for you. I hope that you don't get another one.
