How to go private?

Following on from another thread: I need to go private for foramenal stenosis which has been diagnosed by IMSK and causing me a lot of problems, but it seems will go no further with the NHS for another year.
Does anyone know the best way to go about going private? xRays and MRI scans have been done, but my GP and the NHS app only have access to the IMSKT reports, not the actual images. Will I need access to the images in order to have a proper consultation? And should I let my GP know I'm going ahead? And what is the best way of finding a good consultant?
Thanks for any information or experiences you may have.

I would look on the BUPA consultant site and see if you can find a couple of consultants so you can speak to them or rather their secretary. Ask their medical secretary where they are, tell them you are considering going private, ask about how to get all the diagnostic info you need to them. Probably you will need to go to your GP to get an actual referral and speak to the surgeon, but their secretary can explain the process and what to do in your case.
