ouch! take some paracetamol?

and next time don't rub so vigorously with the pumice stone!

Piffle · 22/06/2008 19:37

painkillers
then flexitiol or boots cracked heel cream
both exc for bad heels
trust me dp had bleeding caverns on his
now the are like Baby feet

Drusilla · 22/06/2008 19:38

I bought one of those black Chiropodists stones the other day in Boots and it is fab. The only thing that has ever made my heels look decent!Obviously I wouldn't recommend it while you are bleeding and in pain (!) but one to try when it's better

Jzee · 22/06/2008 19:39

put lots of moisturiser on. If they are still cracked, then I would invest in a foot file and some scholl cracked heal cream. If you file allmost everyday and put the cream on everyday your feet will improve. Failing that go for a pedicure.

RambleOn · 22/06/2008 19:40

Newtons chiropody sponge
Flexitol

SoMuchToBits · 22/06/2008 19:44

Agree with Jzee - foot file and Scholl cracked heel cream. But you have to do it regularly.

I know from experience it does get very painful when they crack!

Drusilla · 22/06/2008 19:44

Yes, Newtons is the one i bought too

get a foot file from Superdrug- kind of looks like a cheese grater but will work a treat! Also cracked heel cream by scholl or boots own- this should sort it!

GustWriter · 22/06/2008 20:28

I second the scholl cream - been using it 3 days (says works in 7) and big improvements - also found the pumice a bit harsh. I think its prob best saved for very calloused areas.

Botbot · 22/06/2008 20:29

Flexitol works wonders. I apply loads of it at night, then a dab of germolene on a plaster over the most painful bit during the day. Clears it up in a day or so. But keep up the Flexitol - IME it's the only one that works properly.

Botbot · 22/06/2008 20:30

of course the plaster might not look so great in flipflops...

CantSleepWontSleep · 22/06/2008 20:30

Another flexitol vote from me.

piggypoohsmum · 22/06/2008 20:32

when they arent bleeding you could try soaking them in a bowl of warm water with 10ml lemon juice, several sprigs of lavendar and some rose water for about 15 mins.
then smother in moisturiser (coconut oil is good) or use one of the cracked heel creams on the market.
This worked for my friend.
Cucumber slices rubbed into the area are good moisturisers too.

gagarin · 22/06/2008 20:40

I use this corn cutter to get rid of the dry skin. Be gentle - but it's great! Had a pedicure in Thailand and this is what they used so I bought one - but you can get them here too.

Flexitol is the best (it's the urea that does it) to keep heels supple once the initial hacking has worked.

And big plaster over night with germolene over the crack will prob take the pain away.

PhDlifeNeedsaNewLife · 22/06/2008 20:44

haven't read thread (should be working) so excuse if someone else has said this already -

quick fix to be able to walk around with only a slight limp - band-aid is not enough padding, you'll need a wodge of cotton in there as well. just make sure area is thoroughly greased with something v neutral so that cotton will not stick/become wedged in crack.

AnnasBananas · 24/06/2008 13:45

Flexitol every time!! Also very good and recommended by consultant dermatologist is 50/50 soft and liquid parafin (sorry, spelling) the chemist can make it for you. Lather it on at night and cover with cotton socks keep the socks on all night. Once healed I think if you are prone to dry heels keep up with the flexitol every few days to keep on top of it. Bleedin heels really hurt.
