Lump On My Bum!

I fell over on holiday 2 weeks ago. Although I knew I had fallen hard, initially I just had a red mark on my bum. Later on that night I got sharp stabbing pains in it, and by the end of the evening I had a HUGE black bruise all over.

The doc had seen it and said it was ok while I was away, but I also have a huge lump where I fell. The bruising is now going but the lump is still there, rock solid it is at the top of my bum cheek. It is still agony if I press against it. I'm getting a bit woried about it now.

Is this just normal swelling, and is it normal to still be as big and sore after 2 weeks, or do you think I should be concerned?

I think its normal. If you give yourself a good knock you will end up with a lump that will persist for a while, my dd has banged her hip and she also got a large lump at the bruise site.

would it be rock hard though and agony still? How long should it stay there.

Hope your dd is not suffering too much loopylou

Rock hard yes, but not sure about agnony. Maybe just pop into the GP's and ask them to have a look then?

This could be a haematoma, it may need draining so you should definitely go and see your GP.

what is a haematoma - what does it feel like and what is it?

Someone else today said that it could be this?

It is a sort of gathering of blood and fluid under the skin, sort of like a bruise but a more extreme reaction. My friend had to have one drained when she was knocked into the road by a car when we were at university, I think they put a needle in and just drew off all the old blood and liquid, it was much better after that.
