Chafing in sensitive areas

MaryBennetThe2nd · 23/05/2026 10:19

Please recommend a product I can easily get from a UK pharmacy today for soreness and itching.
It’s for an overweight person with skin folds but also chafing from a pad.
She is so uncomfortable and can’t go out. Apparently it doesn’t need a doctor as skin is not broken.

Lanacane anti-chafing gel is a godsend.

Lanacane anti-chafing gel is a godsend.

Thanks I’m not sure it’s still available.

Could the person put a flannel over the sore area?

teraculum29 · 23/05/2026 15:10

sudocrem, or any baby nappy cream

zena1001 · 23/05/2026 15:12

Theres a medicated powder called Cuticura (Amazon and boots sell it). Also a body wash called Hibiwash (again Amazon definitely sell it, as I’m sure chemists will)

MildlyAnnoyed · 23/05/2026 15:13

Canastan or some sort of thrush cream

Sjh15 · 23/05/2026 15:18

Talc!!!!!! It needs drying not moisture!

if it’s between your legs then invest in a pair of Snag tights. Wonderful things

Kattitude121 · 23/05/2026 15:28

I swear by Calendula powder (I buy it on Amazon), a little bit goes a long way too, it doesn’t go claggy like talc but keeps my skin dry and free from that horrible smelly, sore rash.

ajw7 · 23/05/2026 17:04

Elizabeth Arden skin protectant. Can sometimes get it in Boots or John Lewis.

UhOhRatPoo · 23/05/2026 17:07

Why don’t you just ask the pharmacist? Or do you mean you want to order online?

GoldenGail · 23/05/2026 17:08

Sudocrem works wonders. It’s a regular issue for me

UhOhRatPoo · 23/05/2026 17:25

Yes I swear by the 3B cream, it’s Antipodean, I think, I used to buy it when I lived in Asia. didn’t know you could buy it here. 3B stands for Boobs, Bum and Between the Legs.

Run a flannel under cold water tap, even put it in the fridge. Its instant relief. Apply loads of E45 cream when asleep to soak into the skin. When awake try use talc or from Asda the little angels liquid talc which is fabulous but hard to get as often sold old. Once its under control its manageable but its hard getting to that stage x

JulieJo · 23/05/2026 22:30

Cold flannel will help.
An emollient like diprobase, spiderman, cetraban, apply by putting some onto some clean toilet paper after wiping

CornishTiger · 23/05/2026 22:32

Medipure from Amazon.

MummyWillow1 · 24/05/2026 20:07

Germolene is my go to for any skin soreness, it is antiseptic and anaesthetic.

Asda liquid talc is good for prevention but won’t help if already sore.

Snag chub rubs are a lifesaver for sweaty summers. And cloth pads/period pants are so much more comfortable than disposable pads.

MaryBennetThe2nd · 26/05/2026 11:35

Thanks for the replies. Had trouble posting for a day or two. She ended up going to the GP as it was so bad and got steroid cream. I will be looking at snag tights for prevention in future.

When I did duke of edinburgh and I was on my period and my pad chaffed so bad I thought I was gonna have to drop out. My friend recommended vaseline like not the lip tubs the big ones and honestly it's changed my life. It's so good and no chaffing and I was able to continue and I use it to this day if I'm too hot etc simple solution

Dogmum74 · 28/05/2026 14:17

Lanacane and Snag (brand name) chub rub shorts. They go up from a size 8 to huge sizes and are absolutely brilliant. 🤩

EverythingIsComputer · 28/05/2026 14:25

Megababe (awful name) Thigh Rescue can be found in Boots or Body Glide from running shops.

Lanacane anti-chafing gel is a godsend.

Sadly discontinued. I've used it for years for blister prevention on feet.
