Low Iron and Potentially A-Typical Symptoms

I contacted the GP in April after experiencing 2-3 weeks of some pins and needles hands and feet, I felt a change in breath (taste?), Muscle soreness/weakness especially my right foot.

GP ordered bloods Fbc/hba1c/u&e/lft/iron ferrtitin & b12& folate.
Bloods came back normal (B12 476) but iron 'slightly low'. GP prescribed iron with bloods to be repeated in 3 months.

I started iron on the 18th May so I'm willing to take it and see if things improve but I find the pins and needles becoming more frequent and a slight numbing/dead foot feeling in the feet on and off, especially where raised on the couch or something - Should I be going back to GP/anyone else experienced this and the iron sorted it or do I have two issues going on at the same time?

Thank-you for reading that.

Do you have the actual results? Slightly low by NHS levels is very low when compared to optimal levels. Did they do vit D or electrolytes? Ferritin could cause this but so could a number of other things. Taking the iron every other day - with Vit C or orange juice to help absorption and at least an hour from or before caffeine/dairy is best. Ferritin needs to be at least 70 and preferably 100 to be optimal. It will take a while to raise it.

I only asked for the actual B12 figure so this is a good idea, I’ll come back after I get them ❤️.
