Breast suddenly producing milk 8 years after stopping breastfeeding

I breast fed all 3 of my children but my youngest in 9 and I stopped feeding 8 years ago. For a couple of years after I would get the occasional drop of milk but nothing for years. I am sterilised so very unlikely I am pregnant. I had the coil fitted 2 weeks ago and use this alongside estrogen spray for hrt purposes.
Last night my right breast felt achy. When I touched my breast in the shower this morning first a long worm of white milky substance came out of a milk duct and then I noticed drops of breast milk.
I will try to book a GP appointment tomorrow but wondered if anyone has any experience of this.

Ask the GP for blood tests. It can be caused by hormones (high prolactin) or thyroid issues. Hopefully, its nothing serious but itz worth getting it checked out.

Sorry op I have no idea, but first thoughts are some kind of hormonal disorder/overactive glands. I imagine there could be several different reasons. Probably best not to google or speculate too much. Try to take your mind off it til you have some tests done.

Thank you both. Will definitely get in to the GP tomorrow, I am guessing it is probably a hormone imbalance was just a bit shocked this morning.

Yes, I can imagine it's a bit worrying. Are you on any other medication? I've remembered someone who had high levels of prolactin due to medication and had to take something else to keep it under control. She didnt produce milk so clearly whatever they gave her was effective. Hopefully it's something as straightforward as that Flowers
