Cervical Ectropion

Has anyone had treatment for this? I had a smear test the other day and the nurse noticed lots of cells growing outside my cervix. She got a doctor to come and have a look and they think it could be cervical ectropion and I’ve been referred to colpospocy in the hospital for it to be removed.

has anyone had similar?

I've had it for years. No one mentioned removing it.

Should add its been looked at by several Gynaes in the course of exams for other things. No one has ever had a concern with it. They say I have it and that's it.

Causes bleeding after sex and after particularly heavy weights sessions.

Ahh ok. I don’t know if I was referred due to bleeding at the smear test and bleeding after sex etc.

@SlinkyMalinkyy yes I always bleed with the smear tests too.

Yes I’ve had one forever. Both pregnancies I bled with it too. I was always told it’s like a little ‘graze’ on the cervix. I have never heard of it being removed though?

I've had treatment (cauterisation) for it.

Waste of time as it doesn't resolve the issue so like previous posters, it's just there and I live with it.

The bleeding is annoying though.

I had this picked up at the last smear. I was referred and had it biopsied and checked out by an experienced gynea nurse and there were no concerns or any further treatment needed.

I had mine cauterised with silver nitrate. A few years ago now and has never returned. Bit uncomfortable and I was a bit sore for a few days but glad I had it done

Like PP I had one and had it treated with silver nitrate cauterisation 5 years ago, it’s not returned. I didn’t find the procedure that bad (was expecting it to hurt but I didn’t really feel much) but then did get cramping and sore for few days. Glad I got it sorted.
