Yikes - dd's first tooth seems to be coming in at the back of her mouth

DD has been a bit grumpy of late and I can feel what seems like a tooth coming through on the bottom gum but quite near the back of her mouth. Should I be worried? Is this likely to cause her particular problems? I am worried it might scrape on her other gum or that she might bite the inside of her cheek...yes you guessed it, she's a PFB.

How long will it take to come through?

I was expecting first tooth to be at the front, bit surprised tbh.

Has anyone else's dcs experienced this?
Thanks in advance.

Blimey my Saturday nights have changed a lot since I had a child!!

well, I nearly posted on this when I read it the first time, but all I was going to say was that you made me snurk with your Saturday night comment.

A woman from my baby and toddler group has a baby whose back teeth are coming in first, but I only caught a teensy bit of the conversation as she wasn't actually talking to me.

So I'm not much help.

But your little one isn't a freak if that helps in any way

btw, you made me snurk with your Saturday night comment

Teeth can come in any order they like. Bottom teeth tend to come first though. If it is a molar, it will be very hard and smooth and will not cause any probs whatsoever.

You only have to worry if they get their canines first, are exceptionally pale and become restless during full moons

mwah to both of you, I am pleased she is not a freak (at least in the tooth dept - she does have an unnatural and obsessional interest in the telephone for a seven month old.

Squonk next time you should eavesdrop more closely, I need to know what she said woman! x

Ah don't feel bad. DD has a pet spoon at seven months old that went everywhere with her .

BTW I had three sets of teeth and DD is likely to as well - in some families this happens. She got some of her molars before her incisors and had four teeth by four months. Tis good to get this bit out the way TBH. Nurofen for children is better than Calpol IME for teething btw, because it has an anti-inflammatory agent which reduces the gum swelling - also it doesn't taste as nasty.

DD is now 20 months and has seven molars . Even the dentist was amazed. Till he looked at my records and saw I also have extras.

I should be going on Wednesday afternoon.

If I can just remember which mum it was who said it, I will sit next to her and eavesdrop on everything she says.

If she doesn't talk about teeth, I shall engineer a tooth conversation and see what I can glean for you

And my dd1 used to have a rather odd obsession with the telephone, which I never understood until my mother came to visit and told me she was copying me as if!

cheers squonk, you lovely lady you. {grin]
