SIBO testing & further calprotectin

I’ve been posting about my digestive issues for a while now.
To recap:
GORD/GERD
LPR but not officially diagnosed
Excessive and explosive wind
Partially malrotated intestines
Calprotectin of as high as 2500, currently just under 100.
Trsts I’ve had: both ends cameras, CT of abdo and contrast CT of small intestine.
Mild inflammation found within digestive tract with biopsies of no concern. Def no colitis, query chrons but I have none of the obvious symptoms like blood, mucous, diarrhoea, weight loss etc. so they’ve pretty much ruled it out. Gastro has consulted w bowel specialists and they don’t think there’s cause for concern.

But the reflux drives me potty. PPIs either make me feel ill or do nothing and I have made so many lifestyle changes too: diet, sleep upright, barely eat out, no booze - basically boring AF. I v occasionally have a coffee out - maybe once every couple of months. That’s as exciting as it gets!

Gastro suggested a SIBO test. I actually did one at home a couple of years ago but it was a right faff and idk if I did it properly so having it done under hospital conditions will be better. Long waiting list, but I don’t think it’s offered in many places. Anyone had this?

Also am worried about long term damage esp in oesophagus- agsin gastro pretty much said if I take meds (he’s proposed Famotidine now) and do the lifestyle changes I should be ok, although I’ve def got lore inflammation now than I had at my first endoscopy 3 years ago despite sticking to low acid diet and the aforementioned lifestyle changes.

He’s retesting for calprotectin but I still don’t get why it’s so high without ibd. It’s been consistently high now for 4 years with varying numbers.

Just so fed up with it all - isn’t GP said if a cause can’t be found then the symptoms have to be treated as they are but even that isn’t easy!
