Baby not well: teeth, virus?

DD is 10 months old. The night before last she woke up with a temperature, so I gave her some calpol and nursed her back down. Yesterday morning she wasn't herself, wanted to be cuddled and looked quite bleary eyed and tired. This continued all day. She napped earlier than usual and thus went to bed earlier. She woke up 1-2 hourly and I had to rock or feed her down again. She doesn't normally sleep well but this was worse than normal. Today she is pretty similar, v tired and fussy. She is also not eating well, but is bfing a lot. She doesn't have diarrhoea, but her stools have been looser than normal. Do you think she's just got a virus? Should I see how she gets on, or should I take her to the walk in? TIA!

Is her temperature back to normal? or being kept down with the calpol?

teething shouldn't cause her to have a temperature, so i'd err on the siode of a virus. there seems to be a lot about at the minute so it could well be a viral thing and will pass in a day or two. the sttols being looser could just be as a result of her being back to exclusive BF and not eating solids.

As to the walk-in centre, you know your baby and if you think she needs it then don't hesitate in taking her down there.

i hope she feels better soon; it's horrible when they are poorly and you can't do much to comfort them

Thanks Daisy. I think her temp's gone down now, she doesn't feel warm like she did. It's her eyes that give it away, she just looks exhausted all day. I agree, it's so hard when they obviously feel so rotten and you can't fix it. I think I'll see how she goes tonight and if she isn't better in the morning I'll take her down the walk in. Thanks for posting

no problems.....just give her lots of cuddles and keep Bfing her. It's the best thing for them when they are poorly

agree with Daisy. It's good if the calpol works and she's still bfing. Keep a close eye on her - I often sleep in with my children when they are ill - and take her to the walk-in even if only it's to reassure yourself.

Thanks both of you! DD sleeps with me half the night anyway so can keep an eye on her that way. After she's gone to bed I'll keep checking on her. Doesn't help that DP is on nights tonight so I'll be on my own. Hopefully she'll be ok in the morning.
