Am currently mixing anti-biotics with small amount of very strong 'pink milk'..... strawberry milk shake and at the moment he is taking it (after point blank refusing to take it anyother way!!) What tricks do you use?
Also Gp thinks he might have asthma..... calling it wheezing bronchitus at the moment because he is to young to diagnose.... just wondering on other peoples experiences really. Ta

my mum says to my brother its not medecine its magic juice , but you must only have a little bit at a time to make you big and strong !
he willingly takes it keep telling him how big and strong he looks everytime he takes it ( if you have any other kids get them to mention it every once in a while )
my other brother has asthma really bad , it was quite scary to watch him have an asthma attack , luckily im a qualified first aider so i knew what to do .

hope this helps

yep doctors don;t like to be too quick to diagnose asthma so the first time they are likely to call it wheezinf bronch. and monitor to see if it happens again

Hello, thanks for that... have had a horrible 24 hrs with ds high temps wheezing etc but hopefully (touch wood) seems a bit brighter this pm. Tried the magic medicine angle, kind of worked first time..... but remembered how 'yuk' it was the 2nd time and would not have anymore..... back to the tooth rotting strawberry milk it is!!!

I remember making mediyog along the same lines as Pink Milk but with yoghurt ewww! Seemed to work though

my dd refused to take pencillin as it was yuk so i took her back to the doctor who prescribed something else. She also made me feel really mall by saying they don't have a problem giving medication to children in hospital!
bollocks
A few months later dd was admited to hospital and they tried to give her antibiotics she spit them out again and again and again.
in the end thay gave us tablets to crush and i mixed with calpol which she would take!

if he takes it with the pink milk thats brill you can alweays clean his teeth after.

I put the medicine in a syringe in one hand and a choc button in the other. I show them the choc button and tell them they can have it as soon as they have swallowed the medicine. Seems to work in this household.

whomovedmychocolate · 22/06/2008 17:12

This is going to sound terrible but we do 'shots' and 'chasers'. The medicine first, then lovely chocolate milk. Tequila stylee

I've also been sneaking DDs vitamin syrup into orange juice, freezing it into lollies and grinning inanely as she sucks it down.

fordfiesta · 22/06/2008 17:38

I love the shots and chasers idea!!!....dont think ds would buy it..... but still love the idea!
Have tried the choc choc button brib as well.... although not with a syringe, at least the delivery would be to quick to argue with!
I cant believe that they dont have the same problem in hospital!? ds i fear would be as stubborn in hospital i think as at home!!!! I even asked my nieghbours to try and convince him thinking he would do what a big strapping chap (also a friend) asked him to do..... and he jumped of the sofa at 100 mph and hid behind the chair on the other side of the room....for a child with a temp of 39.5 it was quite impressive!!!!

Changing the temperature of the medication can help too - if it doesn't affect it (ask the pharmacist). Cold things don't taste as extreme. Also if you put ice cubes in your pink milk, it's much easier for it to be slurped down quickly.
