She said they felt dry which is nothing unusual as she has excema, however since I put her cream on see has been screaming in pain and they look really red and inflamed, I think they have been scrambling around on the floor all afternoon and she has carpet burns, she now won't walk. HELP

Maybe a tepid bath would ease it off?

solarpoweredbarbarella · 21/06/2008 17:37

i think that might hurt more, she has stopped screaming now, I have had a proper look and they look properly burnt, is savlon Ok or would that make it worse.

A soothing bath might help.

Mine have a bath oil for their skin, does DD have something similar.

Hope you can ease her suffering soon. How old is DD?

Desiderata · 21/06/2008 17:40

I don't think Savlon will make it worse, poor little mite.

How old is she?

Desiderata · 21/06/2008 17:42

My neighbour's boy has excema, and when his skin is raw, he tells me a bath makes it feel much worse.

MrsWeasley · 21/06/2008 17:42

If they are burnt perhaps you should see a GP. It will be tricky to know if cream is hurting the burn or annoying her dry skin.

put some frozen peas in a food bag, wrap in a towel and place on her legs. My DD had been crawling around in just a nappy all day an dher knees looked red and sore. I was putting on her coublebase cream and she started screaming. The peas took the heat out of it and she calmed down pretty quickly. i wouldn't put anything else on it as that's likely to make it sting some more.

poor wee mite

poshwellies · 21/06/2008 17:43

what cream made her worse spb?

solarpoweredbarbarella · 21/06/2008 17:45

apparently it doesn't hurt now how odd, still looks quite nasty, i think I will try some savlon so it doesn't get nasty. She has been scrambling in and out of under her bed on the new carpet.

ds had a carpet burn on his tummy once, from sliding down the stairs, drapolene was very soothing. Good for sunburn too (I got burnt, not the kids).

all the good hospital use sudocream on bad burns so i would cover her in that and use somehting loose to cover where she is burnt

lucyellensmum · 22/06/2008 10:33

i would ring NHS direct and ask. The sudocream makes sense as it acts as a barrier to prevent infection.I guess it is soothing too. I was told to put it on DDs dribble rash in the folds of her neck when she was young. I wouldnt be using sudocream initially for a proper burn though, that would obviously be plenty of cold water, immersed for ten minutes? then hospital with clingfilm around the burn, maybe something cold held over it? Obviously this is a different scenario though.

Aloe vera is very good, as is cammomile lotion or cream.

EffiePerine · 22/06/2008 11:13

Treat it like any other burn: no oils, cool it down, take her to GP if severe.
