We have had headlice in our house in a kind of relapsing/remitting cycle for months. Ds's teacher said she hasn't worn her hair down all year as so many kids in the class have it, and dd1 has been re-infected several times.

I have never been sure that I got all the eggs out of the hair (though believe me I tried - conditioner, nit-napalm, combing and combing and combing and picking out with my fingernails on a daily basis!!)

I did a MN search yesterday afternoon as I was at the end of my tether after finding yet another live on on ds! (I do suspect there is someone in his class who is not treating at all). I saw the Nitty Gritty comb advised and dh got one on the way home from work.

I wet combed last night and this morning - and tonight there is not a nit or a moving beastie to be seen!!! I was amazed at what came out of my own hair as well, and combed dh too. Washed all the pillowcases and pillows too!

We might finally be NIT FREE!!!

In addition to the comb, I always keep this in the cupboard and use it once a week on DD1's hair:
bizniz

It's smelly, but it works!

Thanks expat! Will look for it too. We use a spray with teatree in, ut I like the lok of this one and could be worth ringing the changes!

I use the conditioner on her, haven't tried the shampoo.

Neem oil is supposed to be good, too.

I used to get it in a place called Seesaw Nappies in Edinburgh, but so far I've bought it online here.

I will have a look next time I am in the poncey West End (we dont do herbally type things on the South Side in Glasgow!!)

How are you anyway? I was thinking about you today actually as dh is over your way this week and next week working and it was such a nice day I kind of wished I could have come too but I had dd2's nursery 'Graduation'.

Hope you are OK and the pg is going well.

We're having a wee boy! He'll be called Struan.

But he's sitting very high now and so I am having to get Gaviscon prescribed often enough - and I admit to being reduced to necking it straight from the bottle at times .

It was a lovely day here today . . . and then those b*stard midgies came in around tea time and ruined it.

Weegiemum · 20/06/2008 22:53

Oooh lovely!!!

I had LOADS of Gaviscon with my 1st pg (wasnt so bad with the others) and used to get Gaviscon prescribed 2 litres at a time! (well I was a long way from the doctor). went through all the flavours, Mint is best!!

Bastard midges though. I always got bitten worse when pg as well, wondered if they liked the hormones. We are going "oop north" to where we used to live in September (Hebrides) adn I am already planning to stay inside with the windows shut all week!!

Struan is a lovely, lovely name. I only know one, but several with it as a middle name. I liked Muireann as well, but it wouldn't really suit a boy

take care.

I agree, the mint one is the most tolerable. But if I try to drink it by the spoonful it gives me the boak so I just take small sips.

We've got Skin So Soft, which works great, but it is greasy and if it gets in the girls' hair it's not a pleasant look.

I don't like to use Jungle too much because it's so chemical-ly.

I'm going to try wee beastie, though.

People warned us about the fierce midgie here, but coming through from Edinburgh, we underestimated them.

DH went out to mow the lawn after tea one night and was bitten 22 times. Even with Skin So Soft!

Luckily I hung onto the tub of aqueous calamine creme from when the girls had chicken pox.

I'm addicted to stuff from Purdies.

I just finished up the gift bags for DD1's nursery teachers in there today.

Weegiemum · 20/06/2008 23:12

Where is Purdies?

Am about to launch into the end of term presenty thing myself!

There are two shops. One's in Inverary. The other is in Dunoon in Argyll Street and it's the bigger one.

Let me know if you want me to pop in and pick up anything for you. Mmm. I got the heather honey soaps. They smell yummy.

My mother gave us a whisky candle that smells like heaven and burns for ages.

I was in there today and the two young men were so helpful. Then this stunningly beautiful lady walked in and opened up the staff room, joking and laughing.

And so I mentioned I was getting pressies and couldn't believe DD1 is now 5. She said, 'I know, I can't believe my eldest baby is 22 today!' and gave one of the young men a squeeze.

I couldn't believe it! I said, 'Oh, I thought you were his girlfriend.'

Made her day
